Chamber Hosts Political 
Hot Topics Event 

Fox 2 Detroit's Ron Savage moderated the many lively discussions at the Macomb County Chamber's Political Hot Topics event on Friday, Oct. 23.  Politicians and legislators discussed the most up-to-the-minute concerns of their constituents. Topics included: prevailing wage, roads, no fault insurance reform, educational and municipal consolidations and energy. The event was at Zuccaro Banquets and Catering in Chesterfield Twp.

Connect and Shop 
Networking Event a Hit

Macomb County Chamber members enjoyed themselves at this week's members-only Connect and Shop networking event at Carson's at The Mall at Partridge Creek.  Attendees were treated to a breakfast of pastries, doughnuts, cider and coffee provided by Westview Orchard and a fashion show featuring Chamber board members and staff.  They also received swag bags and exclusive shopping and dining offers by participating Partridge Creek retailers and restaurants.

Macomb County Chamber member Cityoga Room held a Ribbon Cutting with Mount Clemens Mayor Barb Dempsey in attendance. Michigan Celebrates Small Business and MiQuest are accepting nominations through Nov. 2 for the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch award.  These awards are for companies with 6-99 full-time equivalent W2 employees. Learn How to Quickly Treat Opioid Overdose
Families Against Narcotics is holding a training session on Nov. 3, 9-10 am, for business owners on the use of Evzio.  This is a hand-held single-use auto injector for immediate administration of emergency treatment of known or suspected opioid (narcotic pain medication) overdose.  In the case of this kind of overdose, Evzio may temporarily reverse the effects of the opioid and help keep the patient breathing until emergency assistance is available.  Training will take place at 41B District Court (Jury Room), 22380 Starks Dr., Clinton Twp.  There is no cost for this training, however space and quantity are limited.  RSVP immediately to kelley@familiesagainstnarcotics.org.

Gives Excellence Award
Dr. Jennifer A. Hitchcock, SES, will receive the 2015 Excellence in Leadership Award at Michigan's Women in Defense Black Tie Gala on Nov. 6, 6-11:30 pm, at Royal Park Hotel in Rochester.  Dr. Hitchcock is the Executive Director for Research and Technology Integration at the U.S. Army Research Development and Engineering Center at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren.  Click here for more information on the gala.
