Political Hot Topics Event 
in Two Days
Fox 2 Detroit's Ron Savage will moderate discussion at the Macomb County Chamber's Political Hot Topics event on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 am.  Politicians and legislators will discuss the most up-to-the-minute concerns of their constituents. Topics will include: prevailing wage, roads, no fault insurance reform, educational and municipal consolidations and energy.  The event will be at Zuccaro Banquets and Catering, 46601 Gratiot, Chesterfield Twp.  Tickets are $25 for Macomb County Chamber members, $35 for non-members. Chamber CEO Grace Shore had an entertaining and informative interview with Paul Glantz, Founder and Chairman of Emagine Entertainment, Inc. and CEO of Procter Financial, Inc. at the Chamber's Secrets of My Success Entrepreneurship luncheon on October 14. Paul spoke about his business and customer service philosophy, the behind-the-scenes challenges of the movie theater business and why the popcorn tubs Emagine Theatres use are better than the bags the other theaters use. The luncheon was held at Avante Banquets on Gratiot in Clinton Township.

Credit Union Seeks Donations for Soldiers
Central Macomb Community Credit Union is supporting soldiers who are serving overseas by partnering with other local credit unions for "Sponsor a Box" through Operation Care Package-Michigan. The cost to sponsor a box is $15, which pays for shipping.  They are also accepting small items to include in the care packages such as beef jerky, bug spray, toiletries, snacks, games, etc. Last year, CMCCU members and staff donated $1,429 and boxes filled with care package items. Outstanding Businesses
Macomb County is seeking nominations for outstanding businesses in the following categories:  Champion of Workforce Development, Corporate Citizen, Diversification Leader, Efficiency Expert, Model of OneMacomb and Startup Business to Watch.  Nominations will be accepted until Nov. 12.  For more details and the online nomination form, visit www.macombbusiness.com/bizawards.  The awards will be given at the fourth annual Macomb County Business Awards Breakfast on Feb. 9.

Walsh College Hosts Tax Symposium
The Third Annual Mark R. Solomon Tax Symposium will be presented by Walsh College on Oct. 27, 8 am-12 pm. The conference will qualify for CPE credit.  Tickets are $20 for Walsh students, $45 for Walsh alumni and partners and $90 for all others.  Click here for more information and to register. 

Get Your Socks Knocked Off
Henry Ford Macomb Hospital is holding A Night to Knock your Socks Off, an annual ladies night out fundraiser, to benefit its Surgical Center.  The holiday-themed event is on Nov. 3, 5-10 pm, at Penna's of Sterling in Sterling Heights.  The event includes boutique vendors, a 50/50 raffle, dinner and entertainment.  Tickets are $65 and can be purchased by calling 586-263-2968 or by visiting www.henryfordmacomb.com/socks.
