Tom Wilson of Olympia Entertainment and Steve Marquardt of Olympia Development to speak at  

Annual Meeting January 30

 

   

 

Tom Wilson (above left), President and CEO, Olympia Entertainment, and Steve Marquardt, Vice President of Olympia Development, will be the guest speakers at the Macomb County Chamber's Annual Meeting on Friday, January 30, at the Mirage Banquet Center in Clinton Township.

 

The duo will share details on The District Detroit, a $650 million catalyst development project in downtown Detroit that will include residential, retail and office facilities in conjunction with an events and entertainment center that will be home to the Detroit Red Wings.

 

"This project will have a tremendous positive impact for our entire region, from jobs and economic growth to quality of life," said Grace Shore, chamber CEO. "We're very excited for our members to learn more about the vision and progress on The District Detroit."

 

Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel will join Wilson and Marquardt for a question-and-answer session following formal remarks.

 

The Chamber's 2015 Board of Directors and Officers will be also be inducted at the event.

 

Tickets are $50 each and include lunch. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Register now.

Friends of Macomb Township: A Community Foundation will award six $1,000 scholarships to deserving Macomb Township high school senior students. Scholarship applications will be available January 15- Feb. 28. Six scholarships will be awarded to students attending a community college, a four-year college or university, or a post-high school vocational, technical, or creative arts institution during the 2015-2016 school year. To compete for a FofMT scholarship, the student must reside in Macomb Township, be a current graduating senior in high school, have a cumulative 3.0 or higher grade point average, and return a completed application with two letters of recommendation and a personal essay. Application forms will be available at the township main office and high schools within and around Macomb Township, or online.

Once again, Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals and the community have come together to raise funds for critical health care needs while honoring those who have worked to significantly enhance Henry Ford Macomb during the past year. The Medallion: Macomb's Gala Event silver anniversary celebration is March 7 at Penna's of Sterling and will benefit Surgical Services at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital.In addition to recognizing Medallion honorees, the evening features 1,000 attendees for a spectacular dinner, dancing, mock gambling and a grand package raffle.
