SBA Ready to Assist Businesses Damaged by Recent Flood

Due to the presidential disaster declaration for several counties, including Macomb, affected by severe storms and flooding on Aug. 11-13, 2014, businesses and private non-profit organizations of any size may be eligible for low interest loans to repair or replace disaster damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets. Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) is offering matching grant awards of up to $5,000 to improve workplace safety and health.  The grants are open to qualifying employers to purchase safety and health-related equipment.  For more information about the MiSHIP and how to apply, please visit www.michigan.gov/mioshagrants.

  

Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union (MSGCU) is hosting "Shred Day 2014" on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at MSGCU locations at 45120 Market Place Boulevard (off M-59), Chesterfield, and at 480 West 12 Mile Road (west of John R Road), Madison Heights. Each visitor may bring up to two paper grocery bags full of documents to be shredded at no cost.Guests also will enjoy cider and doughnuts.

Congratulations to Chamber member Jim Kaza of SailTime Detroit, who was recently installed as Clinton Township Area Optimists Club president. The club's annual Tastefest Game Night, which features food from 15 local restaurants, raffles, entertainment, and a cash bar, is set for 6 p.m. Oct. 23 at the ConCorde Inn, 44315 Gratiot Ave., Clinton Township. Tickets are $25 per person and can be obtained by calling Carrie Fuca at 586-569-7857. The club welcomes corporate sponsorships. The program feature competitions between teams of local celebrities being led by team captains Mark Hackel, Macomb County Executive, and Macomb County Sheriff Tony Wickersham. Team players include former Detroit Lions player Lomas Brown, State Rep. Anthony Forlini, State Rep. Marilyn Lane, Clinton Township Clerk Kim Meltzer, Macomb County Chamber CEO Grace Shore, and Macomb County Commissioner Bob Smith.

 

Evangel Christian Churches invites all children up to 12th grade and their parents to Hallowrama on Friday, Oct. 31 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. The church is located at 28491 Utica Road in Roseville. The 4th Annual Zombie Parade will be held in downtown Mount Clemens on Saturday, October 25 at 10 p.m. Registration begins at 7 p.m. at the Paperback Writer Books, 61 Macomb Place. The cost is $3.00 for people under 21 years and $5.00 for people 21 years and older. Proceeds benefit the Anton Art Center.  

 

Hiring Our Heroes, a hiring fair for veterans and military spouses, is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Macomb County VerKuilen Building, 21885 Dunham Road, Clinton Township. Interested job seekers and employers should click here for more details and to register.
