Get to Know Your Chamber June 24

For new chamber members or those who would like a refresher, Get to Know Your Chamber is a brief overview of the many services and benefits included with your Chamber membership and a chance to meet Chamber staff as well as network with other members. Hope Center was recently chosen to participate in the Art Van Charity Challenge.  The charity team that raises the most during the Challenge wins a $75,000 donation from Art Van Furniture.  Second place gets $60,000 and third gets $50,000. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is pleased to announce the 10th year of grant making to Michigan free clinics.  Free clinics statewide may apply for grants of up to $15,000 to support health care for the uninsured, including medical, dental and mental health services.  All grant materials are available at www.bcbsm.com/safetynet.  Completed applications are due by midnight on June 16.  To be eligible, free clinics must assist their patients with applications for new coverage available under the Affordable Care Act.

 

Graduating Walsh College Business Information Technology and Information Assurance students will display their innovative, real-world final projects at the twice-annual Capstone Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 14, in room 111-113 at the school's Troy campus. The fair is free and open to the public. Most of the projects have been chosen in response to technology trends or a need a student has identified in their industry or workplace.

The Detroit chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK) invites bowlers to help save rhinoceroses "one pin at a time" at Bowling for Rhinos.  The annual bowl-a-thon for the conservation of endangered rhinos will take place Saturday, June 28, 2014, 7 p.m., at Thunderbird Lanes in Troy, 400 W. Maple Rd.  Registration forms are available online at  www.aazkdetroit.org.
