State of the City of Warren address is March 26

Warren Mayor James Fouts will deliver his State of the City address on Wednesday, March 26, at Andiamo Italia in Warren.

Doors open at 11 a.m. and lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. Tickets, which include lunch, are $25 for Chamber members or $35 for non-members. Register now.

The event is part of the Macomb County Chamber's State of the Community series.

Medstar Ambulance's Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program has started registration for the Spring 2014 course.  The course is State of Michigan approved and is approximately 6 months; upon completion students can take State examinations.  EMT licensure often leads to a rewarding career and employment opportunities in the EMS field are growing at a rapid rate.  For more information on our EMT course contact Sarah Pile, Education Coordinator at Medstar Ambulance, 586-463-5125 or  Registration information is also available online at


The William Davidson Foundation Fund has made a $3 million grant intention to the Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) to support the development of the Polk Penguin Conservation Center at the Detroit Zoo.  Construction of the $26 million facility will begin in the spring near the Zoo's entrance. 


Macomb County Habitat for Humanity and major financial contributor Great Lakes Recycling will welcome the Drobot family into their new home on Thursday, March 6, at 1 p.m. with a home dedication ceremony at 25848 Fern Street in Roseville.


The Habitat partner family (a single mother and her three children) has put in 250 sweat equity hours and participated in classes to prepare them for homeownership. They will purchase the home with a zero equivalent loan and become proud taxpaying residents of the city.
