CATHEDRAL NOTES
Operation Backpack Deadline: Monday, July 22
The Operation Backpack tree is up in the Chapter House and waiting for you to register for a donation. Our junior youth, rising grades 3 through 7, are serving once again as the leadership team for the project. They will be manning the tree during coffee hour this Sunday through Sunday, July 21. They are also available to accept donations.
This is our third year to sponsor Operation Backpack-an outreach program for the Christ Church Cathedral family in cooperation with the Family Intervention Team (FIT). The program was conceived when the FIT case workers realized that children were beginning school without supplies or uniforms.
The goal of the project is to have 20 backpacks filled with loose leaf notebook paper, pencils and pens-one for each child-and enough money for vouchers to be used by case workers to purchase necessary uniform items and school needs for each child. The project deadline is Monday, July 22. The junior youth will meet Monday, July 29 to prepare the donations for distribution.
