Transition Update
Dear Christ Church Cathedral Family, The Canons of the Episcopal Church charge the Vestry with the election of the Rector of a parish. In consultation with Bishop Duncan and his representative, The Reverend Canon Massey Gentry, we have begun the transition process preceding such an election. The first task we have been given is to develop a parish profile that documents who we are as a parish family and what is important to us as we call a new rector. Your participation is essential to this work. In June, you will receive a questionnaire both by mail and electronically that we ask be completed and returned to the Profile Committee of the Vestry. The results of this survey will guide the Vestry in the next steps of the transition and will be published in the Messenger. Please pray for your Vestry that they may be guided by the Holy Spirit in the responsibilities entrusted to them. Faithfully,
Leslie P. Ladd

VBS Athens-Great Success! VBS was a great success thanks to all of our great volunteers, especially director Alison Mitchell. We had 50-plus youth and children involved in the program that took us to Athens on "Paul's Dangerous Journey to Share the Truth." Our music was led by Peggy Lyden and Teri Williams. You will have the opportunity to hear a performance this morning.

Christ Church Cathedral volunteers will again assist Sergeant Zandra Jackson and the members of the Mobile Police Department Family Intervention Team (FIT) in providing backpacks, school supplies, uniforms, and gift certificates for children in their program. This year we will sponsor children who have been reprimanded for not having proper supplies.
The Fun Club, Cathedral children in grades 3 through 6, have agreed to work on the project. We are hoping to involve some of our older youth as well. This is an excellent opportunity for high school students to complete their service hours, while getting to know some our younger members. Please call the Cathedral Office if you would like to help.
The Fun Club will meet at a time to be determined to make the cards for the wishes tree. Items will include backpacks, supply lists, calculators, and requests for cash donations. The project will run from Sunday, June 30 through Sunday, July 21. The deadline for all collections is Monday, July 22 so that we will have time to sort everything. The officers will give the children their stuffed backpacks and take them shopping on Friday, August 2 during the tax-free days.
Look for the tree on Sunday, June 23. However, if you would like to make a cash contribution now, you may send checks made payable to Christ Church Cathedral and note "Operation Backpack" on the memo line.
