HOW TO HANDLE COUNTERFEIT BILLS

There has been an increase in recent weeks in the number of counterfeit bills being passed in Sonoma County businesses.  Most of the denominations are $20, $50 and $100.  Below is a link from the secret service which has information regarding how to determine if a bill is counterfeit.  If you think a bill is counterfeit, politely refuse to accept the bill.  Do not become confrontational.  Call the police and give them a good description of the parties trying to pass the bills.  Also remember that not all people passing counterfeit money are criminals, they may also be unsuspecting recipients of bad bills.
