Why Read Aloud to Your Child?
Reading aloud is important for your child's early brain growth. Children who are read to from birth are more likely to develop the skills and understandings that will help them when they enter school and for their whole lives!
When you make the choice to read to your child you help:
- build understandings of how stories work,
- build vocabulary,
- build knowledge about the world around us,
- build awareness of different kinds of texts,
- build awareness of sounds in words and
- build a love of literacy that lasts a lifetime!
