Remember...Support Those Who Support Us!!!
When you think about becoming a shopaholic this weekend, please remember that Saturday is Small Business Saturday.

Remember it is the small business community in Rome and Floyd County that support our Exchange Club, the Exchange Club Family Resource Center, The Coosa Valley Fair, Toy For Tots, and so many of our other projects.

In addition, it is the local merchants who generate the local sales taxes that help homeowners maintain lower property taxes.

It just makes good $ense to Shop Rome

At Last Week's Meeting

Last weeks One Nation Under God featured our own Exchange Club Member, The Reverend Don Black.

Don's program featured a unique look at our own Exchange Club Covenant of Service and its relationship to  the historical founding of our country and the belief that this is One Nation Under God for everyone.

2016 Move to fairgrounds
Truck after truck unloaded in the "Big Move"

Exchangites, Marine Corps Leaguers, and other volunteers showed up in great numbers with pickup trucks and trailers to make the big move of toys and supplies from the warehouse to the Community Building at the fairgrounds.  The building is taking shape for the big push toward the December 17th distribution day. Can You "Adopt" A FRC Family For Christmas?

Each year our Exchange Club Family Resource Center tries to make sure our client families are "adopted" at Christmas time to insure the children have as much of a joyous and stress free holiday season as possible. This year, our center volunteer Susan Little will be coordinating the effort.

We have families of all sizes from single mom/1 child to two parents/5 children, and everywhere in between!  You can choose the size family you sponsor.  The FRC Staff will do the shopping if you just want to donate the money.  If you do the shopping, we would like to have the gifts here at the Center no later than December 15th to give the Parent Aides time to get them to the parents before school is out.  No need to wrap gifts unless you just want to!  Parents can wrap the gifts and would enjoy doing that.

If you, or a group of individuals, would like a family, please contact Kathy Phillips at the FRC know,706-290-0764, and she will give your contact information to Susan so she can contact you.
Video From Veterans Day

Americanism Committee Chair Bill King has had numerous requests from members to be able to see and download the video shown at our club's Veterans Day Program on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery.

Bill has supplied us with a link to the video that we are passing along to you.

The Family Resource Center Board and Staff are thankful for YOU, Exchange Club of Rome!

You:
  • Provide financial support as a Club and as individuals;
  • Volunteer at events;
  • Work on and with our Board;
  • Encourage our staff;
  • Believe in Child Abuse Prevention!
Do you make a difference?  Yes, you do!  Because of your support, we can reach 45-50 families a month through our Exchange Parent Aide program and touch the lives of close to 100 children.  Our program is effective---75% of parents graduating from our Parent Aide program demonstrate improvement in their parenting and life skills. This keeps children safe at home.  That is one more thing for which to give thanks!

Fellowship

Please remember the following in your thoughts and prayers:

Exchangite Joel Thornton is now home after triple bypass heart surgery.   Please remember Joel and his family.

Exchangite Stacy Walker is recovering from a full hip replacement.  She is in the recovery process now so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy and complete recovery.

Exchangite Richard Dixon's wife Mary Louise underwent surgery to remove a mass.The  surgery itself went rather quickly and very smoothly but Mary Louise will still probably have to go through another round of chemo. Please keep Mary Louise and the Dixon family in your thoughts and prayer.

If you have fellowship information, please let us know. The email addresses are:
Gail Johnson: gailj1@bellsouth.net

Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings.  The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal.  The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting.  Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
