At our last meeting...
In November, we focus on Americanism. Last week, we celebrated Veterans Day with a special program presented by Bill King and Harry Wise. The podium was flanked on the left with the "Empty Table", symbolizing those veterans who never returned. To the right of the podium, our replica of the Tomb of the Unknown was displayed with a backdrop of Arlington National Cemetery.
During lunch, a video of the life of the soldiers who guard the Tomb of the Unknown was shown. During the program, Bill and Harry narrated some of the video as well as explained the symbolism of the "Empty Table". The meeting concluded with Harry leading us in the singing of "God Bless America". Earlier in the day, Exchangite Ralph White had participated in the Veterans Day Program at Myrtle Hill, laying a wreath on the grave of our Known Soldier.

Well Underway
Rome's Toys For Tots Program is well underway with a goal to insure smiles on children's faces at Christmas Time. This past week, Exchangites worked Monday - Friday to register families that will receive toys this Christmas from Toys for Tots. We set a local one afternoon record Friday afternoon registering the children of 150 families. Thanks to everyone who worked on this project. Shown below are Exchangites Wayne Rush, Tom Couch, Glenda Almand, and Sherry Thompson, hard at work.
The Big Move Is On
We need the help of anyone with a truck or a truck and trailer to help move the boxes of sorted toys and other materials we use from the warehouse on Technology Parkway to the Community Building on the fairgrounds.
We will need people with trucks and trucks with trailers to meet at the warehouse at 8 am on Saturday, and we will need other volunteers to be waiting for them at the fairgrounds around 8:30 am to help organize the materials as they arrive.
Please call Hal Gosnell, 706-506-3504 if you can help with this.
There is still much work ahead of us before we can put the smiles on the faces of thousands of children. Below you will see listed some more of volunteer opportunities available for you to be "Working Together In Unity". Contact Marti Robles at 706-844-4911 and say YES I can help on one of these activities.

Can You "Adopt" A FRC Family For Christmas?

Each year our Exchange Club Family Resource Center tries to make sure our client families are "adopted" at Christmas time to insure the children have as much of a joyous and stress free holiday season as possible. This year, our center volunteer Susan Little will be coordinating the effort.
We have families of all sizes from single mom/1 child to two parents/5 children, and everywhere in between! You can choose the size family you sponsor. The FRC Staff will do the shopping if you just want to donate the money. If you do the shopping, we would like to have the gifts here at the Center no later than December 15th to give the Parent Aides time to get them to the parents before school is out. No need to wrap gifts unless you just want to! Parents can wrap the gifts and would enjoy doing that.
If you, or a group of individuals, would like a family, please contact Kathy Phillips at the FRC know,706-290-0764, and she will give your contact information to Susan so she can contact you.

Be A Santa For A Senior...Sign Up
The Holidays and Santa for Seniors will be here soon. Often there are Seniors in our Community who do not have family and we will be asking you to adopt a Senior for the Holidays. You will be given a name, their location, and a list of things they would like to have. The Sheriff's Department will be delivering the gifts Christmas week.
Call Wanda Whitten (706) 506-0043 and bring happiness to someone who would have be forgotten.

Our Partners in Prevention Campaign is going strong---as of November 8th, we have raised $96,336 toward $125,000. We hope that ALL Exchange members will support THEIR center by making an end of year donation or pledge. Making a gift to the FRC is a great way to remember a friend during the holidays---it is a gift that directly impacts the life of a child. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 168, Rome, GA or you make them online here. YES...I Will Donate
