Allison Watters
Floyd County's New
Animal Control Center

Allison Watters is the co-owner of Do Good - A Sharing Boutique, a socially responsible retail shop. She grew up on a cattle farm in Middle Tennessee and graduated from Kennesaw State University before moving to Rome in 1994 to serve as director of human resources at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Since moving to Floyd County, Watters has made it her mission to be involved in the community and champion causes about which she is passionate. She is co-chair of Claws for Paws, a fundraising organization for animal welfare projects; co-chair of Faith Coalition for Families, an organization that focuses on supporting families in the foster care community; a member of the Board of Directors for Floyd County Animal Control and Welfare and the Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau; and a past member of the Floyd County Board of Family and Children's Services. A past chair of the Heart of the Community Board of Directors, she was named one of the Heart of the Community Award recipients in 2016.

Watters is an active member of Rome First United Methodist Church, where she has facilitated an ecumenical women's Bible study for many years. She is also a graduate of Leadership Georgia and a graduate and former coordinator of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Rome program, in which she met her husband, Ed.  Allison and Ed have two daughters - Grace, a freshman, and Ivy, an eighth-
grader. Both attend Darlington School.

We Need YOU!  Here's News About The Fair

Scottie Edwards gets an early start on the reader sign in front of the Village Building

Fair Work Days -
Saturday September 24 and October 1 - 8 am
We need Exchangites to help with the finishing touches to ready all of our venues for the fair goers.  If you have gasoline weed eaters, blowers, hand tools, etc., bring them with you to make things move more quickly.  Biscuits and beverages will be in the fair office at 8am on both days so come hungry.  We should be finished by noon each day.  WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE FAIRGROUNDS, BE SURE TO SIGN IN AT THE OFFICE.

Family Passes And Ride Tickets
Member family passes were distributed at the meeting last Friday and will be done again at the meeting this Friday.  Otherwise, pick yours up at the fair office when you come to work.

Ride passes and meal tickets will be distributed to all Exchangites who work the fair.  Pick them up at the fair office.

The very best deal on rides is still the early on-line purchase of arm bands.  Click on the link below to purchase and please pay attention to the redemption policy so you will have no problems.

Pre-Fair Family Bar-B-Que
This is for you and your immediate family and a highlight of our fair each year.  Once again we will have tables set up in the livestock arena and Marie is preparing pulled pork and all of the "fixins".  The bar-b-que will begin at 6:30 pm, but plan to come a little early because they will be entertainment and great socializing with your fellow Exchangites.

News From OUR Family Resource Center Director
Hats off to Lucy Coyle for her gift of 2 handmade crocheted blankets to the FRC.  They are beautiful! These blankets also provide a great visual of our Exchange Parent Aide services.  Just like a blanket is used to wrap up and protect a child against the elements, our Exchange Parent Aide program "wraps up" families with information and helps them address the elements that put their children at risk of abuse. Exchange members are special people---generous with time & treasures & talents!  Thanks Exchange for your support!

Notice:
The FRC Office will be closed from September 26th through 28th  as staff complete a 3-day off-site training series (and thanks to River City Bank, Georgia Power, and Gail Johnson for providing our free meeting locations!).  Please call Tina at 706-252-1177 if you need anything during this time.

FRC Campaign

Fellowship

Exchangite Greg Gaston's grandson, Caleb Furr has been diagnosed with E-Coli.  Please keep Caleb in your thoughts and prayers for a complete and speedy recovery.

It was GREAT to see Robert Smyth back with us at the last meeting after suffering a stroke.  Robert is easing back into everything and thanks everyone for their prayers.  Continue to remember Robert as he goes through rehab on his way back to 100%.

Exchangite Ronnie Farmer will undergo knee surgery next Wednesday.  Please keep Ronnie in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy and complete recovery.

Remember to keep the family of former Exchange Club of Rome President Buck Trott in your thoughts and prayers.  Buck passed away last week in Highlands, NC where he retired.  Buck was a driving force in creating our Exchange Club Family Resource Center.

Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings.  The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal.  The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting.  Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
