FRC - Directors Update

We are busy these days at The Family Resource Center. We currently working with 50 families through our in-home Exchange Parent Aide program and facilitating 3 active parent educations groups:
  •  One on-site (home and child safety)
  • One in partnership with Hospitality House for Women (behavior management and child development)
  • One in partnership with Berry College and the Rome/Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth (Circle of Security, targeting families with children birth-5 years and focusing on attachment & child development)

Thanks for all the help the Exchange Club and Coosa Valley Fair Association provide to us each year. Thanks for all the help that you individually give as members. Because of you, we are able to bring transformation to hurting families!

At our last meeting....

Rome International Film Festival Executive Director Seth Ingram was on hand this past week to provide information on the upcoming Festival.  Seth is involved in the film industry in a number of ways. Besides talking about the Festival, Seth talked about the movie making industry in Rome and around Georgia. He also outlined a number of ways the local community could work to bring more of the film making to Rome. Many of the films being made in Georgia and many of the films to be screened at the Festival will ultimately find their way into various streaming services like NetFlix and Amazon rather than the big screen.

Prior to the program,  Past President JP Cooper presented two awards the Rome Club won at the National level.  Both our Secretary, Charles Long, and our Treasurer, Meredith Brown were recognized for their outstanding performance in their respective positions last year.  Above,( l-r ) JP Cooper and Charles Long.

This week please remember these Exchangites in your thoughts and prayers:

We have just received the following an update on Exchangite Robert Smyth who is in Floyd Medical after suffering a mini-stroke earlier this week. His MRI showed that he did have a very small stroke from a vessel that had clogged off and the medical team thought he would have a 97% to full recovery...and that's great news. He is working with speech, swallowing, and hand therapists.  Please keep Robert in your thoughts and prayers for a full and speedy recovery.  From Becky:   Robert, Becky and their families want to thank everyone for all the prayers and get well wishes.  They are excited to say that Robert will be heading home soon.  He will begin therapy and the prognosis for recovery is very good.

Mike Simmons, our Director of Security annually at our Coosa Valley Fair and a motorcycle policeman for the Rome PD was struck by a car while leaving one wreck scene to travel to another.  He was wearing a yellow traffic vest and his emergency lights were operating.  Mike was operated on and a rod was place in his leg.  But you know, you can't keep a good man down.  Mike is now in rehab and faces a long recovery period.  Please keep this good friend of Exchange in your thoughts and prayers.

We have received word that former Exchangite Buck Trott is not in very good health.  Buck now lives in Highlands NC.

Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings.  The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal.  The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting.  Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
