At our last meeting....
|
| | At our last meeting, Ashley Ellington, Executive Director of the The Community Foundation for Greater Rome, explained to the club the history and purpose of the foundation. While many non-profits have to spend much of their time on fund-raising rather than on their mission, the foundation has no other mission than to raise funds, primarily endowment funds, to be able to help other non-profits with grants to make the Rome/Floyd County area a better place to live. Two members of the the Community Foundation's board, Wright Bagby and Jimmy Byars, also attended. |
The Americanism Committee will meet on Monday, August 29th, 5:30 at the Fair Office.

Tillman Clocktower Race is Just Around the Corner!

August 20th to be exact!!
It's almost here! Our sponsorships ae strong this year, and registrations look good. We are putting the finishing touches on another great race, and we need YOU to make this the best race ever.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered or registered to run or walk so far. We still need volunteers to fill several critical spots.
It takes a lot of volunteers to make our race the best in the area. If you have not volunteered and would be willing to give us a few hours of your time on Friday afternoon from 4 until 6 for packet pick-up, or from 6 or 7 until 10 on Saturday morning, please let Gail Johnson or Jason Sanker know ASAP. Gail can be reached at 706-346-9348 and Jason at 706-506-6503.

Exchange Fellowship
This week please remember these Exchangites in your thoughts and prayers:
Mike Simmons, our Director of Security annually at our Coosa Valley Fair and a motorcycle policeman for the Rome PD was struck by a car while leaving one wreck scene to travel to another. He was wearing a yellow traffic vest and his emergency lights were operating. Mike was operated on and a rod was place in his leg. But you know, you can't keep a good man down. Mike is now in rehab and faces a long recovery period. Please keep this good friend of Exchange in your thoughts and prayers.
Exchangite Bobby Padgett has a combo defibrillator/pace maker implanted this past week. Please continue to keep Bobby in your thoughts and prayers. He has had a rough several months now.
If you have fellowship information, please let us know. The email addresses are:
If you have emailed one of the above and your fellowship need has not been announced within a few hours, please email one of the other contacts.
