Exchangites were amazed at the work being done by Action Ministries to feed hungry families through the Bagwell Food Pantry and hungry children with sack lunches delivered to various locations on a regular basis over the summer.

Nicole Fannin, the new Regional Director of Action Ministries, surprised many be the quantity of food being distributed through Rome and how proportionally it is larger than many metropolitan areas.

Blue Cup Money......

This weeks Blue Cup money will go to the Bagwell Food Pantry that we learned about  last meeting.  The goal is $320 which will buy a ton of food to be distributed to hungry families.

So  dig deep this week and add an extra few dollars to make our goal of $320.

Tillman Clocktower Race is Just Around the Corner!

August 20th to be exact!!

Lace up your running / walking/ volunteering shoes, and mark August 20th on your calendars for the 31st Annual Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower 5K Road Race and 2 Mile Health Walk.  Race Directors Jason and Kelly Sanker are expecting another banner year and are excited to be leading our efforts.

If your company is looking for a great way to encourage comradery among employees, advertise the business, and contribute to a great cause, a sponsorship would be a fabulous way to do that.  Sponsorships from $500 to $5,000 are available, and include discounted registration for all employees.  Sponsorships are closing soon, so contact Gail Johnson at gailj1@bellsouth.net  if you are interested in this opportunity.

If you are a runner or walker, registration information is available at the race website.  Click here for more information.  It takes a lot of volunteers to make our race the best in the area.  Volunteer sign up sheets will be on tables at Exchange Club meetings starting this week.  Please volunteer and help us make this the best year yet!

Exchange Fellowship
This week please remember these Exchangites in your thoughts and prayers:

Exchangite Phil Frannsen recently underwent surgery on his jaw to remove a malignant lesion.  Phil is recovering at home.  Please remember Phil in your prayers for a speedy recovery.

Mike Simmons, our Director of Security annually at our Coosa Valley Fair and a motorcycle policeman for the Rome PD was struck by a car while leaving one wreck scene to travel to another.  He was wearing a yellow traffic vest and his emergency lights were operating.  Mike was operated on and a rod was place in his leg.  But you know, you can't keep a good man down.  Mike is now in rehab and faces a long recovery period.  Please keep this good friend of Exchange in your thoughts and prayers.

Exchangite Bobby Padgett
has a blood clot on his heart, but as blood clots go, it is "stable".  He is on medication to dissolve the clot.  He is still in cardiac rehab. He feels well, but tires easily. He is working about 4 hours a day.  Progress every day, but still needs prayers for strength.

Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings.  The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal.  The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting.  Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
