At our last meeting....
Our program was presented by Gail Wise, Director of the Regional Youth Detention Center. Gail outlined the role that the center plays in Juvenile Justice, how the center operates, and also took numerous questions from club members. The Regional YDC currently has about 40 kids from age 13 - 19.
Central to the YDC's mission is a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support program. Assisting Gail was Sgt. Wanda Horton, a security officer at the YDC.

Tillman Clocktower Race is Just Around the Corner!
August 20th to be exact!!
Lace up your running / walking/ volunteering shoes, and mark August 20th on your calendars for the 31st Annual Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower 5K Road Race and 2 Mile Health Walk. Race Directors Jason and Kelly Sanker are expecting another banner year and are excited to be leading our efforts.
If your company is looking for a great way to encourage comradery among employees, advertise the business, and contribute to a great cause, a sponsorship would be a fabulous way to do that. Sponsorships from $500 to $5,000 are available, and include discounted registration for all employees. Sponsorships are closing soon, so contact Gail Johnson at [email protected] if you are interested in this opportunity.
If you are a runner or walker, registration information is available at the race website. Click here for more information. It takes a lot of volunteers to make our race the best in the area. Volunteer sign up sheets will be on tables at Exchange Club meetings starting this week. Please volunteer and help us make this the best year yet! |

Exchange Fellowship
This week please remember these Exchangites in your thoughts and prayers:
Mike Simmons, our Director of Security annually at our Coosa Valley Fair and a motorcycle policeman for the Rome PD was struck by a car while leaving one wreck scene to travel to another. He was wearing a yellow traffic vest and his emergency lights were operating. Mike was operated on and a rod was place in his leg. But you know, you can't keep a good man down. Mike is now in rehab and faces a long recovery period. Please keep this good friend of Exchange in your thoughts and prayers.
Exchangite Bobby Padgett has a blood clot on his heart, but as blood clots go, it is "stable". He is on medication to dissolve the clot. He is still in cardiac rehab. He feels well, but tires easily. He is working about 4 hours a day. Progress every day, but still needs prayers for strength.
If you have fellowship information, please let us know. The email addresses are:
If you have emailed one of the above and your fellowship need has not been announced within a few hours, please email one of the other contacts.
