A native of Green County, Georgia she is married and has one daughter. Gail Wise received her degree from The Fort Valley State College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1984.

After receiving her education, Gail started working with Continental Security. She began her career working with youths at the Salvation Army, a youth lodge for runaways and homeless youths. She counseled youth and families, in Atlanta for four years. She later started working with the State of Georgia, with the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) as a Child Protective Services Worker and Investigator.

In 1993 Gail transferred to the Department of Corrections, Hays State Prison, as a Counselor, until 1996. She later transferred to the Department of Children and Youth Services as an Assistant Director of Security. During this time the department was renamed to Department of Juvenile Justice. In July 1997 she became the Acting Director. During this time the Memorandum of Agreement was implemented for the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice. In 1997 the Rome Regional Youth Detention Center was renamed in honor of the President of the Advisory Board, Bob Richards. In 1998 Gail became the Director of Bob Richards Regional Youth Detention Center.

From 2001 to 2002, Gail assisted in the planning, designing, and staffing of a new facility. The new facility would become a 64 bed from a 30 bed. In 2003 she began the transitioning of youths into the new facility now located at 200 Marable Way.

Gail is an active Youth Director at Queens Chapel Independent Methodist Church in Kingston, Georgia. She was a youth director at Love Joy Baptist Church in Rome/Floyd County, Georgia.

Gail consulted and helped open Lewis Assisted Living Homes for medically challenged adults.

She speaks to various youth groups in her community and motivates them to stay in school and strive for excellence. Gail has been recognized in her community for Outstanding Community Service Mentoring Bartow County Children Committee.  It was a proud National Exchange Club Convention in Houston, TX for the Rome Club.  Our delegation was made up of President Mike Elliott, Past President JP Cooper, FRC Executive Director Tina Bartleson, and Bill King.  Not only was Rome singled out for four awards, the diverse program proved to be very educational for our members.  Tina also participated in the "Symposium" which is tailored for Child Abuse Prevention Center personnel.

Tillman Clocktower Race is Just Around the Corner!
Lace up your running / walking/ volunteering shoes, and mark August 20th on your calendars for the 31st Annual Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower 5K Road Race and 2 Mile Health Walk.  Race Directors Jason and Kelly Sanker are expecting another banner year and are excited to be leading our efforts.

If your company is looking for a great way to encourage comradery among employees, advertise the business, and contribute to a great cause, a sponsorship would be a fabulous way to do that.  Sponsorships from $500 to $5,000 are available, and include discounted registration for all employees.  Sponsorships are closing soon, so contact Gail Johnson at gailj1@bellsouth.net  if you are interested in this opportunity.

If you are a runner or walker, registration information is available at the race website.  Click here for more information.  It takes a lot of volunteers to make our race the best in the area.  Volunteer sign up sheets will be on tables at Exchange Club meetings starting this week.  Please volunteer and help us make this the best year yet!

Please bring the cards to Exchange on Fridays
gift card
We have Exchange Club Family Resource Center client families who cannot provide adequate school supplies for their children and they need our help.

School begins at the end of this month and our Parent Aids are attempting to shop for their clients and the easiest way for us to help out is with a simple gift card from Staples or Walmart of any size you would like.  This way the staff can tailor the purchases to the actual needs.

Bring the cards to the Exchange Club meeting on Friday or drop them off at the Family Resource Center.

Exchange Fellowship
This week please remember these Exchangites in your thoughts and prayers:

Mike Simmons, our Director of Security annually at our Coosa Valley Fair and a motorcycle policeman for the Rome PD was struck by a car while leaving one wreck scene to travel to another.  He was wearing a yellow traffic vest and his emergency lights were operating.  Mike was operated on and a rod was place in his leg.  But you know, you can't keep a good man down.  Please keep this good friend of Exchange in your thoughts and prayers.

Exchangite Bobby Padgett
has a blood clot on his heart, but as blood clots go, it is "stable".  He is on medication to dissolve the clot.  He is still in cardiac rehab. He feels well, but tires easily. He is working about 4 hours a day.  Progress every day, but still needs prayers for strength.

Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings.  The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal.  The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting.  Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
