From Our Last Meeting...
Exchangites were busy over the July 4th holiday handing out over 900 flags at two different events.

The Americanism Committee reports that they already have two requests to exhibit the scale replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  One is at the Tellus Museum and the other is at the Georgia State Capitol.   Way to go Rome Exchangites!

More Help Needed On Old Eastview Cemetary
Our club's National Day of Service Project last year was working with the Purple Heart Association's project to help clean and identify graves of purple heart veterans burried in the old Eastview Cemetery.

The call is out again for help to our members by the Purple Heart Association as they prepare to continue to clean up these grounds for an August 6th dedication ceremony.

Tillman Clocktower Race is Just Around the Corner!
Lace up your running / walking/ volunteering shoes, and mark August 20th on your calendars for the 31st Annual Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower 5K Road Race and 2 Mile Health Walk.  Race Directors Jason and Kelly Sanker are expecting another banner year and are excited to be leading our efforts.

If your company is looking for a great way to encourage comradery among employees, advertise the business, and contribute to a great cause, a sponsorship would be a fabulous way to do that.  Sponsorships from $500 to $5,000 are available, and include discounted registration for all employees.  Sponsorships are closing soon, so contact Gail Johnson at gailj1@bellsouth.net  if you are interested in this opportunity.

If you are a runner or walker, registration information is available at the race website.  Click here for more information.  It takes a lot of volunteers to make our race the best in the area.  Volunteer sign up sheets will be on tables at Exchange Club meetings starting this week.  Please volunteer and help us make this the best year yet!

School is not far away...please bring the cards to Exchange on Fridays
gift card
Tina Bartleson has asked Rome Exchangites to begin thinking about helping our Family Resource Center Parent Aids purchase school supplies for their client families by donating gift cards.

While school just let out, Tina says it is not too early to start thinking about school supplies since local schools start the first of August.

The very best way you can help is with a gift card from one of our local stores that sells school supplies like Walmart, Staples, etc.  With gift cards in hand, the Parent Aids can purchase just what the children need.
Exchange Fellowship
This week please remember these Exchangites in your thoughts and prayers:

Mike Simmons, our Director of Security annually at our Coosa Valley Fair and a motorcycle policeman for the Rome PD was struck by a car while leaving one wreck scene to travel to another.  He was wearing a yellow traffic vest and his emergency lights were operating.  Mike was operated on and a rod was place in his leg.  But you know, you can't keep a good man down.  Please keep this good friend of Exchange in your thoughts and prayers.

Exchangite Bobby Padgett
has a blood clot on his heart, but as blood clots go, it is "stable".  He is on medication to dissolve the clot.  He is still in cardiac rehab. He feels well, but tires easily. He is working about 4 hours a day.  Progress every day, but still needs prayers for strength.

If you have fellowship information, please let us know.  The email addresses are:

If you have emailed one of the above and your fellowship need has not been announced within a few hours, please email one of the other contacts.

Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings.  The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal.  The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting.  Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
