Exchangite Wanda Whitten will be presenting

Youth of the Year
 &
Book of Golden Deeds

An award will be given to the Rome Exchange Club's Youth of the Year winner.  This award is given to a student who shows leadership abilities and academic excellence.  They are also judged on an essay based on a theme provided by the Georgia District - "Responsible Citizenship for a Stronger America". Our winner will be eligible to complete for the Georgia District Award.

Our Book of Golden Deeds winner will be recognized for the contributions they have made to community service during their high school years.

Wanda  says, "you are going to be impressed with the accomplishments of all 11 of these students.  They  made the judging challenging"

We may have 48 guests at our meeting on Friday. Please offer any  assistance to allowing them to get easily through the food line. Thanks

Coosa Valley Fair Logo
Coosa Valley Fair President John Garner is looking for volunteers to fill two chair person positions for this years fair in October.

Food Booth Chair - This person will work with the organizations that occupy the permanent block concession buildings.  These buildings are filled by long standing non-profits, and the chairman's job would be to make sure the rental agreements are in order, answer questions, and be the "go to" person between the CVFA and the organizations.

Photography Chairman -This person would be responsible for preparing the building for the entries and receiving them, displaying the entries, securing judges, and being there after the fair to return the entries back to the owners.

If you are interested in looking at either of these positions, please give John Garner a call at 706-346-3885.  John says for either of these chairmanships there are experienced Exchangites who will help train you and get you started in your new job.

At our last meeting....

Pictured (l-r) Tina Bartleson,   Lindsey  Howerton, and Gail Garland

An exceptional program on child abuse as seen through the eyes of a child.  The program featured Gail Garland the Executive Director of Harbor House, Lindsey  Howerton the Director of the Floyd County Department of Family and Childrens' Services, and our own Tina Bartleson the Executive Director of the Family Resource Center.  Tina and Gail outlined  how a small child would perceive the abuse and the interview by the trained staff of the Harbor House and Tina outlined how that same child would perceive the work of an FRC Parent Aid to turn things around in their home.  Lindsey did a gut wrenching demonstration with our members of what it is like for a child to be removed from the home and placed in foster care.

Yard Sale To Benefit
Americansim Projects

Remember, what you think is your junk might be someone else's treasure and Scottie Edwards, our own Mr. yard sale, is gathering up the goods for a spring sale to aide the Americanism projects of our Exchange Club. If you have anything
to sell, call Scottie, 706-346-5998, and he will pick them, or it, up and hold them for the sale.  One person's junk is another person's treasure, so look around and give him a call.

Also, please put the date on your calendars so you can help and shop.
"Get A Jump On Child Abuse" Sets New Record
Lawrence Concert

Thanks to the tremendous effort of our Exchangites in securing many new sponsors, this year's "Get A Jump On Child Abuse" has turned out a financial success for the contribution to the Exchange Club Family Resource Center.
Exchange Fellowship
This week please remember these Exchangites in your thoughts and prayers:

Please keep our club Secretary Exchangite Charles Long in your thoughts and prayers for a complete recovery.  Charles went to Redmond  and was told he was having a heart attack.  An immediate cath took care of a 95% blockage with a stent and he is back at work.  A followup echo showed no damage.

Exchangite Bobby Padgett
is at his home where he is recovering from a heart attack Following several tests the doctors have adjusted Bobby's blood pressure meds and are closely monitoring him.  Update:Bobby is now back at work part time.  Please remember the Padgett family in your thoughts and prayers.

Exchangite Len Woodward underwent a cardiac ablation last week  at Redmond Regional Medical Center.  He is doing well but on light duty.  Please Keep Len and his family in your prayers as he recuperates.

Exchangite Paul Smith's wife, Gerrell is back in Floyd Hospital.  Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.

We also need to remember Brenda Gail Baldwin, a former member, who has been seriously ill.

If you have fellowship information, please let us know.  The email addresses are:

Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings.  The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal.  The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting.  Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
