Greetings!

"Through The Eyes Of A Child"
This very special program is part of Child Abuse Prevention Month and will feature a panel discussion put together by the Exchange Club Family Resource Center.

The panel will feature Gail Garland (Harbor House), Lindsey Howerton (DFCS), and our own Tina Bartleson, Director of the Exchange Club Family Resource Center.  Each will offer a child's eye view of what working with their agencies is like.  This will be both informative and thought provoking.

This is a great program to bring a prospective member guest.

Menu:
Pork Loin, Roasted Chicken, Potatoes, Green Beans, Fried Squash, Rolls, Salad, Cobbler, and cake,

Don't Forget Blue Mondays'

This Monday and every Monday in April is Blue Monday.  Wear BLUE to show your support of Exchange's National Project, the elimination of child abuse.  Also, be sure and wear your blue ribbon pin you received when you joined.

Hannah Morris Talk

At our last meeting Hannah Morris held our members spellbound as she related her adventures as part of an a archaeological expedition in South Africa that yielded a find of bones of an ancient cousin of today's man called Homo naledi.  Hannah told of her daily efforts in a cave that took over 40 minutes of squeezing through and down challenging passageways and climbs before reaching a chamber that could only hold 4 people.  In there the historic remains were found, very carefully unearthed using toothpick type equipment and then had to be carried back to the surface the same treacherous way for further study.  It was a fascinating program that those in attendance will not easily forget.

Yard Sale To Benefit
Americansim Projects

Remember, what you think is your junk might be someone else's treasure and Scottie Edwards, our own Mr. yard sale, is gathering up the goods for a spring sale to aide the Americanism projects of our Exchange Club. If you have anything
to sell, call Scottie, 706-346-5998, and he will pick them, or it, up and hold them for the sale.  One person's junk is another person's treasure, so look around and give him a call.

Also, please put the date on your calendars so you can help and shop.
Young Marines Thank Exchange
YM Thanks

Two special guests were in attendance at last weeks meeting.  As a portion of our Youth program, the Exchange Club of Rome helped sponsor two members of the local Young Marines and last Friday they came by to thank us for giving them the opportunity to participate in that character building program.

Pictured are YM/Pvt. Kassandra Weatherby  and YM/Pvt. Jeremiah Weatherby  as they took to the podium to thank the Exchange Club of Rome for their financial support which made their participation possible.  Accompanying these Young Marines were their mother Vida Weatherby and Linda Hartley, staffer for the YM program.

Did You Miss Our Other Guests On Friday?
Camels at fairgrounds

It's not too often we drive up to the Palladium for our Exchange Club meetings, only to be greeted by two camels.  The pair of dromedaries were part of a circus that had pitched it's tent at the Fairgrounds for two shows and the two gave our members the once over as they showed up for the meeting.
The circus booking is just part of the renewed emphasis of the Fair Board to lease the facilities more often.
Golf Tournament
Great "stay and play" at Barnsley Gardens and Atlanta plus other great prizes and gifts for players.

District Convention At Callaway Gardens

It's time to make your plans for the 91st Annual Convention of the Georgia District of Exchange in June at beautiful Callaway Gardens.

It was announced at the last meeting that the Club will cover your convention registration costs and if any funds are left over they will be pro rated among the members going to help defray the costs the hotel lodging.

This is an exceptional year to bring your family because Callaway has so much to do that will be included as a guest at the convention. Once again, the FSU flying circus will be performing.  Click below to view the great activities of the venue.

Exchange Fellowship
This week please remember these Exchangites in your thoughts and prayers:

Please keep our club Secretary Exchangite Charles Long in your thoughts and prayers for a complete recovery.  Charles went to Redmond last Thursday and was told he was having a heart attack.  An immediate cath took care of a 95% blockage with a stent and he is back at work.  A followup echo showed no damage and he will be at our meeting on Friday.

Exchangite Bobby Padgett
had a bit of a set back Monday night at his home where he is recovering from a heart attack.  According to his wife Beverly, Bobby fainted and spent the night in the emergency room until finally returning home early Tuesday morning.  Following several tests the doctors have adjusted Bobby's blood pressure meds and are closely monitoring him.  He is still very weak and the "No Visitors" sign is still up.  Please remember the Padgett family in your thoughts and prayers.

We also need to remember Brenda Gail Baldwin, a former member, who has been seriously ill.

Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings.  The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal.  The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting.  Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
