Rising Star and Homo naledi
Hannah Morris

Picture from Rome News Tribune

Hannah Morris was one of the young female paleontologists who helped bring up the remains of the newly discovered hominin - Homo naledi - from a deep cave in South Africa.  The 2013 discovery has set the scientific community on its ear and  has received wide publicity internationally.

Hannah is a graduate student working on her PhD at the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at UGA. She is the  daughter of Billy and Sandra Morris, and  granddaughter of Bill and Betty Zane Morris, all of Rome,

...This Monday and every Monday in April is Blue Monday.  Wear BLUE to show your support of Exchange's National Project, the elimination of child abuse.  Also, be sure and wear your blue ribbon pin you received when you joined.

On this past Monday, members of the Rome Exchange Club, the Exchange Club Family Resource Center Staff, as well as other agencies and community leaders met  in front of the Dempsey, Lord, Smith Building at the corner of Broad Street and Turner McCall Blvd for the "Placement of the Pinwheels".  Each pinwheel represents one case of confirmed child abuse/neglect in Rome and Floyd County. Highlighting the event was the release of two doves. One symbolizes  "LOVE" and the other "PEACE".

Tina Bartleson,  Exec Director of the Exchange Family Resource Center releases the first of two doves during the presentation.

Thanks to Exchangite Ronnie Farmer for the photos.

Yard Sale To Benefit
Americansim Projects

Remember, what you think is your junk might be someone else's treasure and Scottie Edwards, our own Mr. yard sale, is gathering up the goods for a spring sale to aide the Americanism projects of our Exchange Club. If you have anything
to sell, call Scottie, 706-346-5998, and he will pick them, or it, up and hold them for the sale.  One person's junk is another person's treasure, so look around and give him a call.

Also, please put the date on your calendars so you can help and shop.
District Convention At Callaway Gardens

It's time to make your plans for the 91st Annual Convention of the Georgia District of Exchange in June at beautiful Callaway Gardens.

It was announced at the last meeting that the Club will cover your convention registration costs and if any funds are left over they will be pro rated among the members going to help defray the costs the hotel lodging.

This is an exceptional year to bring your family because Callaway has so much to do that will be included as a guest at the convention. Once again, the FSU flying circus will be performing.  Click below to view the great activities of the venue.

Are You Saving Those Bottle Tops and Carton Ends?

At a previous meeting, Exchangites Barbara Carter and Meredith Brown outlined plans for this years scrapbook.  The duo explained they are also asking Exchangites to save bottle tops from Coke products and the end package panels from Coke can products.  There will be a basket in the lobby of the Palladium to deposit them and they will be exchanged for on-line services in producing the scrapbook.

Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings.  The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal.  The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting.  Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
