Hannah Morris was one of the young female paleontologists who helped bring up the remains of the newly discovered hominin - Homo naledi - from a deep cave in South Africa. The 2013 discovery has set the scientific community on its ear and has received wide publicity internationally.
Hannah is a graduate student working on her PhD at the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at UGA. She is the daughter of Billy and Sandra Morris, and granddaughter of Bill and Betty Zane Morris, all of Rome,

...This Monday and every Monday in April is Blue Monday. Wear BLUE to show your support of Exchange's National Project, the elimination of child abuse. Also, be sure and wear your blue ribbon pin you received when you joined.
On this past Monday, members of the Rome Exchange Club, the Exchange Club Family Resource Center Staff, as well as other agencies and community leaders met in front of the Dempsey, Lord, Smith Building at the corner of Broad Street and Turner McCall Blvd for the "Placement of the Pinwheels". Each pinwheel represents one case of confirmed child abuse/neglect in Rome and Floyd County. Highlighting the event was the release of two doves. One symbolizes "LOVE" and the other "PEACE".

At our last meeting....
Our last meeting was our monthly Business Meeting. In addition to reports from all the Committee Chairs , we inducted 3 new members into our club. Past Exchange President Frank Redwine conducted the induction ceremony and we welcome 3 new members, Kim Hall, sponsored by Diane Warner; Linda Hatcher, sponsored by Hal Gosnell; and Scotty Hancock, sponsored by Wanda Whitten.
Kim is an attorney and private investigator, Linda is an retired educator, and Scotty works for Redmond Regional Hospital and is also a County Commissioner.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Rome Exchange Club along with the Family Resource Center is participating in and sponsoring a number of events this month. Exchangite Jim Talley outlined all the Child Abuse Prevention Month events and Exchangite Buzz Wachsteter talked up the upcoming Get a Jump on Child Abuse to be held at the Brewhouse on April 16th.

 A clang of the Exchange Club bell for Exchangite Rhonda Wallace as her employer Synovus announces she is one of three executive bankers recognized for Synovus' Circle of Excellence Awards in 2016. This is the fifth time Rhonda has been selected.
The sales awards recognize team members for exceeding sales goals and making exceptional contributions in areas such as winning new business, being a team player, maximizing cross-sell opportunities and enhancing shareholder value.

Remember, what you think is your junk might be someone else's treasure and Scottie Edwards, our own Mr. yard sale, is gathering up the goods for a spring sale to aide the Americanism projects of our Exchange Club. If you have anythingto sell, call Scottie, 706-346-5998, and he will pick them, or it, up and hold them for the sale. One person's junk is another person's treasure, so look around and give him a call.

District Convention At Callaway Gardens

It's time to make your plans for the 91st Annual Convention of the Georgia District of Exchange in June at beautiful Callaway Gardens. It was announced at the last meeting that the Club will cover your convention registration costs and if any funds are left over they will be pro rated among the members going to help defray the costs the hotel lodging.
This is an exceptional year to bring your family because Callaway has so much to do that will be included as a guest at the convention. Once again, the FSU flying circus will be performing. Click below to view the great activities of the venue. Callaway Gardens Activities

Are You Saving Those Bottle Tops and Carton Ends?
At a previous meeting, Exchangites Barbara Carter and Meredith Brown outlined plans for this years scrapbook. The duo explained they are also asking Exchangites to save bottle tops from Coke products and the end package panels from Coke can products. There will be a basket in the lobby of the Palladium to deposit them and they will be exchanged for on-line services in producing the scrapbook.

Exchangite Bobby Padgett who had been in Intensive Care following a heart attack is now home and making some progress each day. Please include Bobby and his family in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy and complete recovery.
Continue to keep Exchangite Fred Dent in your thoughts and prayers as he copes with the loss of his wife Julia.
Please remember Exchangite Bob Steinbruegge on the passing of his monther last week. She was 90 years old.
We also need to remember Brenda Gail Baldwin, a former member, who has been seriously ill.
Get well soon wishes to Exchangite BIll Fricks. Bill was recently in the hospital suffering from pneumonia but is resting at home now. Get well soon!!!
