This is MEMBERS ONLY!

We will need YOUR help Friday
Right after the meeting on Friday we will need everyone's help in removing all of the tables and chairs from the Palladium and putting them into a truck for storage to allow the building to be used by the fair.  This will only take a few minutes if everyone would pitch in and help.

Menu: Baked Ham, Fried Chicken, Creamy Potatoes & Gravy, Skillet Corn, Collard Green, Fried Okra, Rolls, Salad, Cobbler and Cake.
The Fair is coming!!!!

  • Always stop by the fair office as soon as you arrive and sign in and leave your cell phone #.
  • Ride tickets will be available at the fair office the opening night of the fair.  This booklet has a limited number of tickets, and you may want to take advantage of the online armband specials available from Wade Shows before October 6th.  The discounted price of the unlimited armband is $16 and can be ordered using this link:

At Our Last Meeting
Our program was presented by Becky Smyth, Parking Services Manager, Rome Downtown Development Authority and introduced by her Exchangite husband Robert.
Becky is also President of the Parking Assn of Georgia  (PAG), the trade association for industry professionals who are primarily responsible for parking and transportation in Georgia.

Becky outlined the various parking facilities downtown that are managed by the DDA and how it operates.  The biggest problem is the small number of on street parking spaces.  With only 300 on street spaces, and over 3000 people that live and/or work downtown there is a great need to encourage people to use the parking deck next to the Forum, which many nearby merchants offer validation coupons to cover the cost.  In a humorous note, she described how many people will circle the block over and over instead of using the parking deck.  Becky also described the parking regulations and how her dept enforces them.  There were a number questions raised by the members regarding the return of  parking meters, slowing down the traffic to protect the pedestrians in the cross walks, and safety issues in the parking decks.

What some of the families who work with the Exchange Club Family Resource Center have to say about our services:
  • "I loved the talking I had with her [Parent Aide]"
  •  "I was so thankful I received the help I did.  I learned a lot."
  • "She taught me how to improve my anger."
  • "She was the first person who ever believed in me."

Your support enables parents to have the information they need so that they can avoid abuse and neglect.  YOU give children healthier and happier childhoods.  Thanks for giving to our Annual Campaign. Haven't made your pledge yet?  No worries...simply see Charles Steven or call Tina Bartleson at 706-290-0764.

Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings.  The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal.  The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting.  Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
