  Greetings!

Exchange 101

How long has it been since you attended your orientation meeting with the Exchange Club of Rome, GA?  That long ... wow!  Possibly when you are a relatively new member and didn't get to attend an orientation meeting.  Over the years new member orientations have been presented in many different ways and for much of last year they were postponed and postponed and finally abandoned.  As your Board discussed when to have one we came up with a fantastic idea.  Exchange 101 - A refresher course for the whole Club.  We will have members briefly describe their committee's activities and endeavors.  Hopefully you will enjoy the presentation and possibly learn a little something along the way.

Menu:
Pork tenderloin, Chicken Alfredo, Yams, Skillet Corn, Green Lima Beans, Rolls, Salad, Cobbler and Ice Cream.

All menu items are subject to change.

At Our Last Meeting
Flag Education

Did you know that the fourth star from the left on the American Flag represents the State of Georgia?  If you were at our last meeting you did because Exchangites   Bill King and Harry Wise previewed the Exchange Club of Romes
GiveAKidAFlagToWave presentation which is currently being given to every fourth grade class in Rome and Floyd County public and private schools.  Now...let's see if you are smarter than the average fourth grader...what's the name of the flag Bill King is holding on the left?
Exchange Club donates $1600 to Rome Police for child safety seats

The Rome PD in cooperation with the Georgia State Patrol, the Floyd County Police, and the Floyd County Sheriff's office did a 60 day traffic enforcement campaign in Rome to target traffic violations.
  • One of the offenses that quickly jumped out were the number of offenses for not having children in child safety seats or improper child safety seats.
  • 526 people were cited for improper seat belt/child safety seats violations.
  • 79 new car seats were given to people who could not afford a proper child safety seat.  They were also training in the proper installation and usage of the seats.
  • To help replenish the supply at the Rome Police Department,  our Exchange Club  sponsored a huge yard sale at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds with all the proceeds being turned over to the Rome PD to purchase child safety seats.

Pictured is Exchangite Scottie Edwards, Chairman of the "Hot Summer Daze" yard sale presenting a check for $1600 to Lt. Chris DeHart, commander of the Traffic Unit of the Rome PD at a recent meeting of XC to be used in purchasing a variety of car safety seats for Rome PD to distribute to those who cannot afford one.

What some of the families who work with the Exchange Club Family Resource Center have to say about our services:
  • "I loved the talking I had with her [Parent Aide]"
  •  "I was so thankful I received the help I did.  I learned a lot."
  • "She taught me how to improve my anger."
  • "She was the first person who ever believed in me."

Your support enables parents to have the information they need so that they can avoid abuse and neglect.  YOU give children healthier and happier childhoods.  Thanks for giving to our Annual Campaign. Haven't made your pledge yet?  No worries...simply see Charles Steven or call Tina Bartleson at 706-290-0764.

Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings.  The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal.  The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting.  Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
