WOW!

Pictured our Mr. Yard Sale Scottie Edwards, Louise Branham who sold a ton of books and DVDs and Paula Wachsteter who made the quarters add up to many dollars
The crowds of buyers were tremendous and they kept right on coming until the noon closing hour. Because of your and the community's great donations for us to sell, we will be able to turn over to the Rome Police Department enough money to replenish their dwindling inventory of approved child auto safety seats by at least 20 more.

Family Resource Center Starts Strategic Planning Process
Board members and staff met in the training room of the Harbin Clinic for a strategic planning session that began examining the public perception of the Exchange Club Family Resource Center on the eve of its 25th anniversary.

The process is being helped along with the addition of profession consultants who have volunteered their services to insure the process moves in the right direction.

Pictured is Power 10 head Sean Mikula, who with two other staff members led the probing exercise which will be followed by several additional sessions of the FRC Staff, then the Executive Committee, and finally on to the full Board of Directors.  This entire process should aid in the FRC's visibility in the community as well as the approach to fundraising.

Golf Tournament to benefit Toys for Tots

At our last meeting....

Our own Wanda Whitten presented our program - the history and mission of the Heart of the Community Foundation and the Heart House.  The Foundation each year recognizes outstanding Romans who selflessly serve the community in a variety of ways.  These people are honored at a gala affair which is also the main fund raiser for the Foundation.  The Heart of the Community Foundation's main beneficiary is the Heart House at Redmond... recently renamed to the Wanda J. Whitten Guest House in Wanda's honor.

Billy Maddox, Chaplain at Redmond also spoke on the ministry and operation of the House.  Families who are from out of town and need to stay close due to a family member undergoing surgery or recovering in local hospitals or nursing homes.

The Wanda J. Whitten Guest House is a joint venture of Redmond Regional Medical Center and the Heart of the Community Foundation.

Answer The Letter...Join The Campaign

People give to the Family Resource Center for any number of reasons:
  • "I believe that children deserve to live in homes that are safe and to live without neglect.
  • "I see our local child abuse statistics and I know that giving is a way that I can impact the lives of many each year.  I'm just one person but my gift helps many."
  • "I like that the Exchange program goes INTO the homes of families.  Each family is different and I'm impressed that they work with a family based on what that individual family needs.  It's not cookie-cutter program."
  • "I have served on the Board for a number of years and know that the Board as well as Center staff are frugal and use donations wisely."
  • "I have witnessed first-hand how dedicated and hard-working our staff of seven employees are in carrying out the mission of the Center."
Unsure why you should give? See Exchangite Charles StevensChairman of the Exchange Annual Campaign to learn more.  You may also call Tina Bartleson, FRC Executive Director, at 706-290-0764 to schedule a meeting and tour...and become part of the success story!

Exchange Fellowship
This week it seems like we have a lot people we need to pray for:
  • A friend to many in our club, Brenda Gail Baldwin is still in the hospital.  Last report from her husband, Ben, is that they are working to wean her off the ventilator she has been for several weeks now.
  • Please remember Exchangite Vivian Richmeier's parents, David & Dianne Maddox.
  • If you have fellowship information, please let us know.  The email addresses are:
Gail Johnson: gailj1@bellsouth.net
If you have emailed one of the above and your fellowship need has not been announced within a few hours, please email one of the other contacts.

Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings.  The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal.  The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting.  Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
