Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower Race

Months of planning and preparing are about to pay off as the 30th Annual Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower 5K Road Race and 2-Mile Health Walk takes place this Saturday, August 15th,  at 8am in Heritage Park.

Volunteers should have received an email on Wednesday morning outlining their responsibilities and race day instructions. Please print your instructions and maps and bring them with you on race day.  If you did not receive an email, please check your spam folder.  Gail Johnson and Jason Sanker will be at the Exchange Club meeting on Friday with tee-shirts and volunteer assignment details.  On race morning you should check in with Jason and Angie Diehl at the Volunteer Station next to the playground to receive your Volunteer Badge and further instructions.

We have a strong sponsor base this year, many of whom have been with us for the past ten years, and we could not be as successful as we are without them.  Please patronize these sponsors and let them know how much we appreciate their partnership with us in the fight against child abuse and neglect.  Many of our sponsors will be in the park on Saturday, adding to the race experience for our participants, and handing out food and other goodies in addition to the fruit and fluids provided by the race.  After you have completed your volunteer duties and return to the park to return your lanyard, please visit the sponsors' tents and thank them for what they do.

A huge thank you is due to the following businesses and organizations:

Yard Sale Items Needed
yard sale
Our own Mr. Yard Sale, Scottie Edwards has put out a call for items to be placed in another Exchange Club Yard Sale to be held at the fairgrounds August 22nd.

What ever you have...we want it and you can either bring it to an Exchange meeting with you or we will pick it up if you call Scottie at 706-346-5998.  Nothing is too small or too big because one man's trash is an others treasure.

All club proceeds will be used to help purchase car safety seats.

Answer The Letter...Join The Campaign

People give to the Family Resource Center for any number of reasons:
  • "I believe that children deserve to live in homes that are safe and to live without neglect.
  • "I see our local child abuse statistics and I know that giving is a way that I can impact the lives of many each year.  I'm just one person but my gift helps many."
  • "I like that the Exchange program goes INTO the homes of families.  Each family is different and I'm impressed that they work with a family based on what that individual family needs.  It's not cookie-cutter program."
  • "I have served on the Board for a number of years and know that the Board as well as Center staff are frugal and use donations wisely."
  • "I have witnessed first-hand how dedicated and hard-working our staff of seven employees are in carrying out the mission of the Center."
Unsure why you should give? See Exchangite Charles StevensChairman of the Exchange Annual Campaign to learn more.  You may also call Tina Bartleson, FRC Executive Director, at 706-290-0764 to schedule a meeting and tour...and become part of the success story!

Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings.  The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal.  The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting.  Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
