Santa for Seniors
Reminder that those Exchangeites who adopted Santa for Seniors need to either deliver their gifts to the Parker Senior Center on Kingston Rd this week or bring them to the Exchange meeting on Friday, December 19. Thanks for helping make a Senior Adult's Christmas a little brighter. Wanda Whitten |
Exchange Fellowship
This week it seems like we have a lot people we need to pray for:
- Exchangite Ann Arnold will be having knee replacement surgery right after Christmas. Please remember Ann during the coming weeks.
- Exchangite Rhonda Wallace's sister Paula Sanders had surgery this week. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers for a complete and speedy recovery.
- Exchangite Robin Miller will be having knee replacement on December the 17th and will be out of work 4-6 weeks.
- Dr Randy Green's wife Becky fell and broke her hip. Please keep both Becky and Randy in your thoughts and prayers as she recovers.
- Exchangite GiGi Binion's mother Cile Bishop is recuperating at home from surgery to replace a broken hip and repair a fractured femur. She returned to the ER on Saturday with a blood clot, but that is being treated and she continues to improve. She returns the doctor on Tuesday, December 23rd, for a post-op checkup and hopes for good news at that visit. Many thanks to Exchangites Dr. Scott Bowerman, her wonderful surgeon, and Diane Warner, who is providing care for her during this rehabilitation phase. Exchange Club truly is a second family!
- Sherry Loyd, wife of Exchangite Jim Loyd is having severe kidney problems and is in need of our prayers.
- Mary Louise Dixon, wife of Exchangite Richard Dixon, and Exchangite Giles Chapman both continue their treatment for cancer. Please keep them in your prayers.
- Let's not forget to remember Exchangite Len Woodward's daughter Emily Macy. Emily is not doing well.
- Exchangite Brenda Gail Baldwin needs continued prayers as she receives treatment for MS.
-
Exchangite Dan Scott's wife, Terri continues to do well in her treatment for cancer and needs our support.
-
Exchangite Ray Dempsey has completed his latest round of chemo and is doing OK. He has been diagnosed with cancer of the liver.
-
Exchangite Sam Burrell is in declining health, both physically and mentally. Please remember Sam and his family.
If you have fellowship information, please let us know. The email addresses are: Gail Johnson: gailj1@bellsouth.net
If you have emailed one of the above and your fellowship need has not been announced within a few hours, please email one of the other contacts.

Toys for Tots
Toy Distribution has been set for Saturday, December 20th at the
Coosa Valley Fair ground. As Hal explained at a recent meeting, much of the work for the distribution will be done before the distribution day in order for that to go smoothly and quickly.
With the flu and other things during this season, it looks like we will be short-handed for the picking of toys tomorrow, Thursday at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds.
We will be filling "orders" from 9-12 and 1-4. People should wear warm clothes and comfortable shoes. Some will be pushing shopping carts with bagged toys from the Community Building to the Village Building, dropping them off, and making return trips.
All elves are welcome!
Remember, there are 2500 kids counting on us...

Holiday Greetings from the Prez
In this very joyous time of the year I want to wish each of our members and their families both a Very Merry Christmas and an Especially Happy New Year. Regardless of our various religions we all have something to celebrate during this festive season and I wish each and every one of you peace, health and good tidings to begin the new year. As we get busy during these delightful days please try to keep in mind one thing ... IT IS ABOUT PRESENCE ... NOT PRESENTS!
We have had a lot to celebrate and be proud of during the first half of this Exchange Club year. We are really accomplishing our mission of serving the community. Our members are being seen in various ways in the public performing a variety of charitable events which is, of course, the thread that binds Exchange.
We still have lots to do this year and plenty of programs you will enjoy. Please join us for lunch on Fridays if you haven't attended lately. As with any organization you get out of it what you put into it. I can't describe the feeling of joy I get when I help someone even in some small way ... and that is what Exchange is all about. So if you have become lax please reconnect. I promise you will not regret it.

Family Resource Center
Bryan Shealy, Rome Exchange Club President, dropped by my office today and asked me to deliver $50 Visa gift cards to each of our staff as a way to say thanks to them for all the work they do with families. I delivered those certificates a few minutes ago and I wish you all could have seen the smiles and felt the gratitude. I thought you would enjoy knowing about this gift!
THANKS EXCHANGE CLUB!!

Proudly We Hail.....
Again this year, we will be honoring homes, businesses, and government agencies who proudly fly the American Flag ... and we need you.....
Your assistance is needed in identifying and nominating citizens, business owners/institutions and governmental agencies that are flying the American flag appropriately and on a consistent basis. This is your opportunity to thank, and recognize citizens in our community who honor and display our national emblem.
Members of the Americanism Committee will visit the nominee sites and select the winner(s) to be invited to a luncheon meeting and receive a Proudly We Hail Award.
Names and addresses of the nominees should be given to Giles Chapman or any member of the Americanism Committee.
