New President's Welcome and Meeting Agenda
Greetings and Happy Spring neighbors,
I invite you to attend the upcoming meeting on April 7th @ 7:30 at Larchmont
United Methodist Church. There will be a Candidate Forum for our School
Board, City Council and Mayoral candidates. We moved our usually scheduled
meeting to accommodate St. Patricks Day, and spring breaks.
We plan to begin with a brief update from law enforcement of Norfolk and ODU,
then will begin with the School Board, then City Council and finishing up with
the Mayoral Candidates. Each of the candidates will be given 5-7 minutes to present with a 5-10 minute Q&A at the end of each candidates turn. We will do our best to be
respectful of everyone's time for this event.
In an effort to make the meeting efficient, please feel free to submit
questions to the President@larchmontedgewater.org email address. We will do
our best to get to those questions in the course of the evening.
We have a new group of Officers for the Civic League from our last meeting of
2015: Vice President-George Curtis, Secretary-Cornelia Steinert, and Treasurer-Amanda
Winchester. Thanks to Jennifer Greeley who coordinates our newsletters, Jill Pollard who manages the website, and GM Zillier who assists with code enforcement and
logistics for our meetings. We are always looking for assistance, so please introduce
yourself to one of us after the meeting or feel free to e-mail us from the Larchmont Edgewater Civic Leagu e website.
If you have topics for future meetings you would like to hear about please get
those to us as well.
I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday!
Rhonda Liberto,
President, Larchmont Edgewater Civic League

Your Neighborhood Watch
There were 36 crimes reported since January 1st, which is comparable with last year. Of the 4 residential burglaries, one was domestic, one involved a laptop taken through an open window, and two were attempted burglaries with nothing taken. The majority of crimes continue to be larcenies involving autos. They have been sporadic, and fortunately the police were able to make some arrests. No vehicles have been stolen compared to 5 during the same period last year, so it appears residents are being more conscientious about removing spare keys from their vehicles and locking their doors. The police were also able to take into custody a man who asked inappropriate questions to young girls in the neighborhood. Several residents helped to make this possible which is what the neighborhood watch is all about. So please remain vigilant, and if you see suspicious activity report it immediately to the police so they can check it out. Chuck Davis Neighborhood Watch Coordinator 440-1081

Crossing Guards Needed
As many of you know our neighborhood enjoys the safe crossings for our students at three intersections by longtime, friendly and reliable guards. They have become fixtures in our neighborhood. The police department is looking for more good citizens to join their ranks as crossing guards. Please click here to see more information about this part-time, community serving job that may be right for you. Requests to work in or near your neighborhood are taken into consideration. As the new Larchmont School building is completed, there may be a need for more crossing guards to safely help students travel to and from school. You could make that difference.
