Lawyer Referrals

If you are unable to assist a potential client with a legal matter, please refer the individual to the lawyer referral website (www.wvlawyerreferral.org).  The website provides 24/7 access and allows clients to select the attorney(s) they may wish to contact both by subject area and by distance/location. Please be sure to notify your staff of this new service.  Questions?  Contact Anita Casey at caseya@wvbar.org.

Members of the Lawyer Referral Service

The State Bar Lawyer Referral Service Committee added additional practice areas to the referral service. To update your practice areas click here.

The Lawyer Referral Service Committee is also looking for feedback from members on how it can improve the program.

Tax Credits Available!

The West Virginia Fund for Law in the Public Interest seeks donations to help us fund WVU law students who want to work in summer and full-time jobs with legal aid, the public defender and other WV public interest organizations.

There is good news for our donors.  The Fund has been granted permission by the State's Neighborhood Investment Program to give tax credits to its donors.

Donors who contribute $500 or more get half the donation back in the form of a WV tax credit.  This credit can be used by the donor against the donor's WV personal income tax, corporate net profits tax or business franchise tax.
