Annual Membership Reporting and Fees 2013-14
PAST DUE
Active Members who have not completed annual reporting and paid fees, will be assessed an automatic penalty of $25.00 for late reporting of your Financial Responsibility Disclosure and a separate penalty of $25.00 for late payment of fees. A notice will be mailed to all active members who have not completed both their reporting and fee payment in a few days. Sixty (60) days after that notice is mailed, members will be automatically suspended and may not engage in the practice of law until reinstated.
If you wish to pay and report by paper, forms are available on The State Bar's website. There is a $10.00 processing fee for all paper submissions, which must be paid at the time of submission. Members who wish to file online and select to pay by check are not subject to the $10 processing fee.

Proposed Amendments for Public Comment
The Court has published Proposed amendments to the Rules for Admission to Practice Law to Require Board Member Residency. The comment period will end on October 7, 2013, please send all comments to the WV Supreme Court Clerks Office.

State Bar ID Cards Available
The State Bar encourages all members to apply for a member ID card. These cards can be used at state jail facilities and can be used for identification as a member in many other situations.

Once you apply for the ID Card your form will be returned to you and you can take that to any West Virginia DMV location. The application process may take as long as two 10-14 days to process.

Rules of Lawyer Disciplinary Procedure
The Court has proposed amendments to the Rules of Lawyer Disciplinary Procedure to increase membership of the Lawyer Disciplinary Board. The comment period will end on October 7, 2013, please send all comments to WV Supreme Court of Appeals Clerk's Office.
