Lawyer Referral Service Now Online

The West Virginia State Bar's Lawyer Referral Service Committee would like to introduce the new Lawyer Referral Service website! www.wvlawyerreferral.org. The new service is designed to provide a faster and easier way for the public to connect with attorneys who may be willing to take on new cases. Participants in the new Lawyer Referral Service can be searched by practice area and zip code.

  • 24/7 Instant access to your information
  • Information on basic legal issues and practice areas to assist the public in becoming better informed on basic issues to eliminate unnecessary referrals to a lawyer 
  • Free registration for State Bar Members who register during the 2012-2013 FY

Supreme Court Notices

The Supreme Court of Appeals is requesting comment on Amendments to Rule 43 of the West Virginia Rules of Civil Procedure and Rule 56 of the Rules of Practice and Procedure for Family Court, addressing the payment of compensation to interpreters as provided by law.  Comments may be filed in writing with the Clerk of the Court by December 28, 2012. Click here for the amendments. 

Litigants before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals are hereby provided notice that all filings after January 1, 2013 must fully comply with the Rules of Appellate Procedure. To review the Court's order, follow this link Order entered December 10, 2012

The Court has adopted certain amendments to the Rules for Admission to the Practice of Law in West Virginia, as recommended by the Board of Law Examiners.  The amendments are effective January 1, 2013.  To review the amendments, click here.
