Expiration of Forwarding State Bar Mail by USPS
The United States Post Office will terminate the forwarding of mail from the old Kanawha Boulevard address to the current address on December 5, 2012. Please be sure the correct address for the State Bar is in your records. Incorrectly addressed mail will be returned to you by the Post Office. The State Bar will not be able to honor time sensitive mail received late due to an incorrect address. Supreme Court of Appeals
The Court has issued an order requesting comment on Amendments to Rule 43 of the West Virginia Rules of Civil Procedure and Rule 56 of the Rules of Practice and Procedure for Family Court. The comment period will end on December 28, 2012. Click here for Amendments to rule 43.

The West Virginia State Bar's Board of Governors received letters of interest from an extraordinarily qualified set of applicants for nomination to The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation's Nominating Committee. WV Health Care Authority
The WV Executive Branch recently updated its HIPAA Preemption analysis, which may be found here. There is also a summary and flow chart explaining the mechanics of HIPAA preemption. While it is produced annually to support the Executive Branch's internal privacy compliance, it may be useful to others and serves as a database of all health information laws in WV.
