High Definition Remote Truck
Comes Home to Access Sacramento
Access Sacramento officially takes ownership of a new High-Definition remote broadcast truck this week after nearly a year in planning and construction.

The vehicle arrived from TV Pro Gear in Glendale, CA last Wednesday, and the crew members from Access Sacramento's Hometown TV staff put the truck through its paces Sunday covering 10 new local rock bands as part of the training program from the 36th annual Skip's Stairway to Stardom.

On the TV side, the truck features four new HD cameras, a For-A video switcher, 24-channel audio mixer, Compix character generator for graphics, and NewTek 3-Play instrant replay system. The Blackmagic recording systems are all digital.

The truck itself is outfitted with a side awning for sun and rain protection, an auto-leveling system, and roof-top side rails for use as a camera platform.
The production vehicle was purchased with funding from the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission and will create a minimum of 50 Hometown TV and Game of the Week broadcasts over the next 12 months.

Production of the 36th annual Skip's Stairway to Stardom also included post-performance interviews with eac of the bands. The concert's music gets a special audio mix from Skip's Music which is then incorporated into the finshed broadcast.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and The Food Literacy Center on this week's LiveWire!
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting more than 300 communities to finish the fight. Last year nearly 1.2 million Making Strides walkers nationwide turned awareness into action and helped to raise more than $60 million to help the Society save more lives from breast cancer.
Next Melissa Granville from the Food Literacy Center joins us to talk about inspiring kids to eat their vegetables. She will also discuss how teaching low-income elementary children cooking and nutrition improves our communities' health, environment and economy.

AccessLocal.Tv Training Program
Featured in Statewide California Endowment Youth Media Event
The project provides training for up to six young journalists for four-months at a time. The group writes articles, creates radio podcasts, and broadcats video news reports for the AccessLocal.Tv website and on special news program on cable TV.
Program coordinator Isaac Gonzalez and his teams are to be congratulated, not only for the volume of their work, but also for its quality in providing content that is positive and supportive of important programs that help improve Sacramento County.

"On-Camera Kids" Acting Workshop Makes Film for October Premiere
Access Sacramento's original new training program designed to give young people a start in the professional world of movie making kicked off the training experience Saturday with a video taped audition. The final result with be the new short film "Returning Andrew."

The kids participated in a memorized reading as well as a cold read which was recorded for later feedback and evaluation. Shooting for the film written and directed by SacCasting.com's Brian Jaggar happens later this month.
This program will earn the actors a credit in the on-line storehouse of movie info IMDB.com and then this unique experience will pay off with the showing of this start up short film at the "A Place Called Sacramento" film festival Oct. 8 at the Crest Theatre.
