New Summer Batch of News Correspondents at AccessLocal.Tv
AccessLocal.Tv, the community news online division of Access Sacramento, has brought on five new Neighborhood News Correspondents and is welcoming back a returning correspondent, Ivan Caballero, to an unprecedented third term with the program. Levi Harvey, Jennifer Lee, Michael Martinez, Jezer Serafica, and Bruce Quan have joined AccessLocal.TV as entry-level correspondents.

AccessLocal.Tv is a Wordpress based news website which empowers young people from Sacramento with the ability to report on community news and stories that otherwise might not make the front page. Its primary focus is within the South Sacramento area identified by The California Endowment's "BHC" initiative. The BHC, or "Building Healthy Communities" initiative is part of a $1 billion, ten-year statewide program which aims to empower neighborhoods with the tools and skills they need to be prosperous.
"This new group of youth reporters entering the program during a time where we are seeing breaking news disseminated via various digital platforms more and more each day," said Isaac Gonzalez, Youth Media Coordinator for AccessLocal.Tv. "Each one of them brings a different set of experiences and abilities to the table and I'm looking forward to seeing what they will achieve with the tools we provide them with."
Neighborhood News Correspondents spend around four months in a program, receiving specialized training and technical support from Gonzalez. Each week, they follow up on story leads a craft written articles and videos featuring content from their communities. Correspondents also produce a podcast which can be found on iTunes and a television show which appears on the Access Sacramento Cable Channel.

"On-Camera Kids" Acting Workshop Makes Film for October Premiere
Access Sacramento's original new training program designed to give young people a start in the professional world of movie making kicked off the training experience Saturday with a video taped audition. The final result with be the new short film "Returning Andrew."

The kids participated in a memorized reading as well as a cold read which was recorded for later feedback and evaluation. Shooting for the film written and directed by SacCasting.com's Brian Jaggar happens later this month.
This program will earn the actors a credit in the on-line storehouse of movie info IMDB.com and then this unique experience will pay off with the showing of this start up short film at the "A Place Called Sacramento" film festival Oct. 8 at the Crest Theatre.

The Sacramento based "Media Edge" program partners with the " Diversity" band for the TV permiere of a new democracy based music video coming up Sunday at 8pm on Channel 17.
"Diversity" is a Sacramento band that launched its new music video themed around what it calls the troubled state of democracy.
"Media Edge" has offered two hours of in-depth, thought-provoking, progressive viewpoints every week since April 2005. "Media Edge" features segments created by local producers, along with nationally distributed
videos and documentaries.

Filmmaking in High Gear for "A Place Called Sacramento" Teams
Darrell Scheidegger's "The Last Laugh" has received permission to use Old Town's "Laugh's Unlimited" for principle photography in mid July and early August. This black-and-white film no�r style film should be lots of fun.
J. Thomas Schuessler's "The Black Carnation" will begin shooting in the next several weeks. The production schedule is being adjusted for the lead actor who has been on vacation. Surprisingly, the lead actor, Ian Wynton, was a director of photography on a film last year, and was a winning writer in a previous year. John Maniaci's "Capitol Treasure" is a fiction story based in Gold Rush era fact. Principle photography was schedule dot begin July 17 with a variety of unique river locations to help the story along. Scott Slotterbeck's "Coming Home" has finished its cast and crew selection and shooting should begin later this month. |

The movie "Regrets" by winning writer Larry Menard has been shooting at Miller Park in Sacramento along the river, and will finish off with several scenes over multiple days outside the Folsom State prison in the next several weeks.
Volunteers for the films will see their names in the credits on the big screen, see their project air on Access Sacramento cable television channels and will have their names added to the Internet Movie Database website IMDB.com.
