Filmmaking in High Gear for
"A Place Called Sacramento" Teams

With summer in full force, the 10 teams from the  "A Place Called Sacramento" Film festival are busy capturing the stories that will make up this October's only festival dedicated to celebrating local filmmaking.

Danna Wilberg's "Afternoon Delight" was scheduled to finalize primary shooting with its last two scenes during the weekend.  Director of Photography Tim Walton and Producer Laura Chick have kept the team on track, but their not the only one's finishing up already.

City of Trees' Michael Thygessen
The "City of Trees" by Eric Sanderson also has wrapped up principle photography.  Using a set of young actors, this story provides an interesting twist on what it means to overcome government red tape.

"Faster" by Chris Henry is also deep into production. A few difficult to find locations will wrap up photography by the end of the month, and some fun shots from a "Go Pro" camera mounted on a bike will provide some unique perspectives.

A Neighborhood Lost Sacramentos Japantown
The festival's only documentary, "A Neighborhood Lost -- Sacramento's Japantown" has competed its interviews and primary narration, which leaves most editing for the balance of the summer.  The story by Jeffrey Dym and Jason Bowman provides a unique look at the development of part of Sacramento's downtown region.

Nick Coleman's "Happy Accidents" will also complete shooting by the end of this month.  A variety of shooting locations showcase several Sacramento businesses and will provide a unique look at some city landmarks.

Darrell Scheidegger's "The Last Laugh" has received permission to use Old Town's "Laugh's Unlimited" for principle photography in mid July and early August.  This black-and-white film noír style film should be lots of fun.

J. Thomas Schuessler's "The Black Carnation" will begin shooting in the next several weeks.

The production schedule is being adjusted for the lead actor who has been on vacation.  Surprisingly, the lead actor, Ian Wynton, was a director of photography on a film last year, and was a winning writer in a previous year.

John Maniaci's "Capitol Treasure" is a fiction story based in Gold Rush  era fact.  Principle photography was schedule dot begin July 17 with a variety of unique river locations to help the story along.

Scott Slotterbeck's "Coming Home" has finished its cast and crew selection and shooting should begin later this month.

Actors and Crew from Regrets get instructions from Director Jason F Knittle.
The movie "Regrets" by winning writer Larry Menard has been shooting at Miller Park in Sacramento along the river, and will finish off with several scenes over multiple days outside the Folsom State prison in the next several weeks.

Volunteers for the films will see their names in the credits on the big screen, see their project air on Access Sacramento cable television channels and will have their names added to the Internet Movie Database website IMDB.com.

Sponsorships of the film festival are available by contacting Access Sacramento Executive Director Gary Martin at 916-456-8600 ext. 100.
