Access Sacramento to Showcase
Service to the Community During
Big Day of Giving

Access Sacramento will feature a variety of messages supporting the local community of television and radio producers all day on May 3 during the Big Day of Giving.  The community-wide celebration of non-profit cultural and arts organizations encourages donations at the BIG Day of Giving website during that 24-hour time frame.
You can expect a variety of live television coverage throughout the day including gavel-to-gavel coverage of the organizer's Halftime event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ceasar Chavez park.

 Big Fish Director
Quentin Sacramento

You can also expect to see a lot more of Access Sacramento's mascot, Big Fish Director Quentin Sacramento during the Big Day of Giving.  Look soon for Quentin to have his own Twitter account. After 16 years of being silent at the "A Place Called Sacramento" film film festival, it appears Quentin has learned plenty of film making tips--- and he can type.

Access Sacramento thanks all its television and radio members and hopes for tremendous support throughout the region when the BIG Day of Giving arrives. In 2015, more than $5-million was collected in support of local arts and cultural non-profits in the Sacramento region.

AccessLocal.Tv is a Wordpress based news website which empowers young people from Sacramento with the ability to report on community news and stories that otherwise might not make the front page. Its primary focus is within the South Sacramento area identified by The California Endowment's "BHC" initiative. Neighborhood News Correspondents spend around four months in a program, receiving specialized training and technical support from Gonzalez. Each week, they follow up on story leads a craft written articles and videos featuring content from their communities. Correspondents also produce a podcast which can be found on iTunes and a television show which appears on the Access Sacramento Cable Channel.

"I wasn't very interested in journalism at all when I first started working here at AccessLocal.tv but as time went on in the program it sort of grew on me," said returning correspondent Caballero. "I've learned a lot about writing and how to present our articles for the public."

New Equipment for Radio
Producers on KUBU 96.5 FM

Access Sacramento's radio production studio #1 has two new CD players for radio DJ's and producers to use in the creation of their programs for KUBU 96.5 FM "The Voice of Sacramento."

The two units replace two older CD players that had started to become unreliable.  While it is true many of KUBU's air-talent use computers and other digital media files, The "Voice of Sacramento" recognizes some producers prefer to use CD and other still prefer to play back music using turntables and vinyl records.

Access Sacramento has provided a radio service for Sacramento County for nearly 30 years.  If you're interested in having your own radio (or TV) show, begin by attending a free orientation on the 2nd Tuesday or 4th Wednesday of any month.  RSVP at 916-456-8600 ext. 0.
