HD Remote Truck For Access Sacramento Approaching
We are excitedly awaiting the arrival and completion of a uniquely designed high-definition remote production truck being built especially for us.

Stairs will lead to the two doors where the technicians will work. Storage in the belly-bays will securely store equipment for use during Hometown TV events.

It's a 21-foot box behind the cab-over Isuzu engine and we're very thankful for the support of the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission for helping us take the next step toward a fully high-definition workflow.

The back door opens into the audio booth, and the forward door opens into the video control room with camera switcher, instant replay and high-definition recording, transmission and graphics equipment.

The framework is made of aluminum. The desktops will be finished polished walnut, the facia of the equipment racks will be a dark-gray charcoal with a padded vinyl wrap. The counter tops, air-conditioning, generator, roof-top camera platform, and awning should be finished

this week which will leave about six weeks for integrator TV Pro Gear to do the HD equipment installation and wiring before the Access Sacramento vehicle is premiered at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, NV April 18. The construction is taking place in Burbank, and the completed vehicle will be brought to Sacramento following the completion of NAB Show for a premiere and welcoming series of displays in thanks to the cable commission as Access Sacramento continues "Making A Difference, One Voice at a Time."

A birds of prey benefit, a show focused on shelter animals and upbeat acoustic pop this Wednesday March 2nd on LiveWire!
Rick Reed will be joining host Ray Tatar to discuss the upcoming "Wings and Wine" fundraising event for the Wildlife Care Association. The fundraiser will feature birds of prey including a Great Horned Owl and a Bald Eagle. The proceeds will benefit the Wildlife Care Associations efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and release wild animals giving them a second chance at life.

Local musician Andrew Castro will dazzle us with his upbeat acoustic pop song�stylings.
Andrew is a Sacramento based singer songwriter who has at venues from San Francisco, to New York and many places in between. He has just released a new album and will be performing a release concert at Harlow's on March 12th.

Save the Date BIG Day of Giving - May 3
Once again this May, 2016 Access Sacramento will be participating in the BIG Day of Giving, an internet day of on-line celebration for area non-profits. Plans are underway on how Access Sacramento can support participants in the event, including with live television coverage of local non-profits' events that day. Access Sacramento thanks all its television and radio members and hopes for tremendous support throughout the region when the BIG Day of Giving arrives. In 2015, more than $5-million was collected in support of local arts and cultural non-profits in the Sacramento region.

March 11 Deadline for Non-Profits to Apply for Green Screen Studio Equipment
High Tech equipment grants valued at nearly $30,000 each will be awarded in early April to several Sacramento County non-profits or schools in a process designed to help residents get better access to cable television broadcasting. The Request for Proposal (RFP) instructions are available on the Access Sacramento website HERE. The application deadline is Friday, March 11.

The 17th annual "A Place Called Sacramento" script competition is looking for your best stories. Script submissions are due April 1, 2016. Local screenwriter and film director Diana Erwin has started a special four-Saturday workshop designed to help those who want to learn more about writing a short-form script. The techniques of creating a beginning, middle and end of the movie, creating memorable characters, and putting all in a framework of Sacramento are being covered. Erwin has penned her own A Place Called Sacramento film and directed two others. This Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist now does marketing for an international firm based out of Sacramento. One of her workshop student's winning scripts two years ago became the 2014 "Audience Favorite" award-winner.

Another Access Sacramento specialty class "Filmmaking Tips" is designed to help beginning and intermediate level filmmakers improve their skills is being offered by Professor Nathan Schemel from the Art Institute of Sacramento and Sacramento City College. The class begins April 2 and runs four Saturdays. $50 Fee. Tips of getting good images, improved sound, and managing a crew are all included. Save the Date:

This year's 10 winning script writers will then become producers and get the chance to bring their story to the big screen, have it play of cable TV, begin or add to their IMDB.com filmography, and enjoy the applause of fans and peers at the world premiere Oct. 2, 2016.
