"The Voice of Sacramento" KUBU 96.5 FM Celebrates Its Birthday in Style
Several members of the Access Sacramento's radio community celebrated the KUBU 96.5 FM birthday with its first remote broadcast Friday from Nation-Wide Freezer Meats restaurant in downtown Sacramento.

Radio hosts, interviewers, DJs and several members of the Access Sacramento board of directors participated this premiere remote broadcast using new equipment funded by the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission. It was one year ago when KUBU 96.5 FM officially signed on with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Now, Access Sacramento supports nearly 70 radio producers who create nearly 100 hours of original programming weekly.

TV Replay Tonight 7pm CIF Opening Round Football Pitman at Del Campo
After a three-year playoff broadcast absence, Access Sacramento returned to the CIF-SJS playoffs with a stellar Division II match-up with the Pitman Pride of Turlock vs. the Del Campo Cougars of Fair Oaks. Check out the TV game video highlights with Will James and Jim Dimino: The highlights reveal the tense comback attemps by Pitman after an early Del Campo lead. See the Blocked punts, on-side kicks and some spectacular break through passing and running.

Enter Your Best Video in the WAVE Awards to Honor the Best in the West
The annual awards competition by the Alliance for Community Media - West has opened its on-line entry portal.
All videos may enter whether they have been broadcast on an Access station or not. Video entries must originate in California, Nevada, Colorado, Hawaii, New Mexico or Arizona.

The Western Access Video Excellence (WAVE) awards competition is accepting entries now. The regular entry deadline is Nov. 30. A late deadline, with slightly higher entry fees is Dec. 15. The final deadline is Jan. 1, 2016.
Entry categories include community events, information and news, sports, music, inspirational/religious, live, narrative film and documentary and plenty more. Winners will be announce during the ACM-West annual conference, this year in Honolulu, Hawaii in mid-March.
WAVE award entries will be judged and finalists will be named in Mid-January, with enough time for any entrants who would like to attend the awards ceremony to get the lowest airfares to Hawaii.
Competitive divisions allow similar skills sets to compete one again the other. As always, videos that have aired on access channels in six western states compete as community producers (volunteer) or professional producers (paid), A new division this year allows competition for videos that have not aired on access channels.

Sacramento Harvest Festival, Renu Lal, and Sister Swing on LiveWire Tomorrow 5pm
We are harvesting up some fun on LiveWire, tomorrow, Nov. 18.
Sacramento Harvest Festival will be talking about their event happening on November 20th. Henna artist, Renu Lal will be demonstrating and speaking about henna art. Sister Swing will be performing live in the studio!
Sacramento Harvest Festival is an annual festival and one of the largest indoor arts and craft show. This family event happening Nov. 20 -22, features live music and entertainment acts; including guest Sister Swing! This event benefits the charity group AT&T Pioneers who help local communities with food drives, educational programs, assisting after natural disasters and more.
Renu Lal is one of the most sought Henna tattoo artist in Sacramento. Renu began practicing henna at a young age in New Delhi, India, where she was born and raised. She is an expert in free hand designs in tribal, traditional Hindu and Celtic imagery.
Sister Swing is a swing band consisting of three vocalist; Valerie Marston, Paula Chafey-Merrill and Leigh Hannah. They have been together for 20 years performing jazz, swing, ballads, boogie woogie and more. Sister Swing has their own distinctive sound but still preserves the beauty of vintage music.

HTTV Presents:
On-Air 30-Year Reunion Concert Repeats Later this Month
Tune in to watch the "On Air" band in concert in a special reunion performance. Sacramento's premiere classic rock band was established in 1985. It is an 11-piece musical group with a five-piece horn section celebrating its 30th anniversary. Hometown TV's cameras were at a special reunion performance at Elk Grove's Laguna Town Hall Amphitheater.

On October 25, 2015, the Joint Annual Dinner of the Sacramento Chapters of Physicians for Social Responsibility and the United Nations Association featured Peters as their keynote speaker.
During her keynote address, Ms.Peters described how she and her Australian colleagues were able to get the nationwide ban on assault weapons passed.She noted that following the ban, over a million firearms were removed from circulation, overall rates of firearm related deaths and injuries, already much lower than in the United States, declined even further, and there hasn't been a single additional mass shooting. Ms. Peters challenged Americans to take similar action to stop the epidemic of gun violence in our country.
