"Graham Vinson"
Tonight at 11 PM on Channel 17
By Listen Up! Producer, Erika Kjelstrom

"Listen Up! Sacramento" is pleased to present the super soulful & extremely talented singer-songwriter, Graham Vinson. With deep, meaningful lyrics reminiscent of bands like The Gin Blossoms & Soul Asylum, mixed with the catchy guitar riffs & vocal style of artists like John Mayer & Jonah Matranga, Graham mixes the modern with a classic sound fantastically. If you enjoy music that tells a story, while being great to listen to, get ready for Graham Vinson.....he's "Grahamtastic!"

1st Birthday Coming Up
At last week's monthly community producer's meeting for DJ's and air talent at KUBU, discussions of how to 'celebrate' the radio station transmitter's first birthday created some exciting new developments.

A plan is underway to utilize the station's new remote broadcasting gear to do a multiple-hour broadcast from downtown Sacramento featuring many of KUBU's air personalities plus some invited guests.

Most of the technical equipment has been installed in the Studio Two control room now, and testing of the remote gear is about to commence.

Watch this column for the lastest plans as they develop and SAVE THE DATE on Fri. Nov. 13 for some spcial KUBU announcements.

Listerners can always tune in via the Internet from Access Sacramento.org or on mobile apps TuneIn Radio or Live365.

Friday 7pm on Game of the Week

Franklin vs. Pleasant Grove

by Will James
Hometown Sports

Contending teams locked up in tight conference races are charging toward the finish line in hopes that a clutch victory in the final week of the regular season will tip the scale enough to secure a playoff berth.

Franklin Quarterback #12 Jacob Lopez will miss Friday's game because of an injury.
That's precisely the case in the rugged Delta League where undefeated #2 Elk Grove (9-0, 6-0) and once-beaten #4 Grant (8-1, 5-1) are guaranteed tickets to the playoffs from a league that will send three, maybe four teams to the post-season.

That leaves #16 Pleasant Grove (5-4, 4-2), #19 Franklin (5-4, 3-3), and unranked Jesuit (5-4, 3-3) in the hunt for one, possibly two remaining playoff spots, with #20 Monterey Trail (4-5, 2-4) hanging around as an ultra-long shot to reach the post-season.

As a result of this traffic jam in the standings, Friday night's Franklin vs. Pleasant Grove clash at Sheldon High School becomes the pivotal confrontation that will decide the final placement of Delta League contenders.

Tune into Access Sacramento's live telecast of the Home Town Sports Game-of-the-Week Friday evening at 7:00 pm on Comcast Cable channel 17, Consolidated Communications Cable channel 17, AT&T U-Verse channel 14, and on the Internet at accesssacramento.org.

Monterey Trail's quarterback Robert Holt was named Access Sacramento's Player of the Game, running for two touchdowns, passing for two others, and rushing 14 times for 128 yards and completing seven of nine passes for 48 yards.

Jesuit's only score came in just barely into the 2nd quarter when Marauders capped a 10 play 45 yard drive with a Luke Thayer field goal that brought the game to Monterey Trail 7, Jesuit 3, but that was as close at the Marauders would get.

Jesuit running back Beau Bisharat, returning to full action after two weeks nursing an injured ankle, rushed for 44 yards on eight carries, and caught 3 passes for 41 yards.

Check it all out tonight at 7pm and Wednesday at 11 a.m. on Comcast or Consolidated Communications Channel 17, AT&T U-Verse Channel 14 and streaming from AccessSacramento.org.

Access Sac Youth Reporters for AccessLocal.Tv Recognized at Statewide Conference

Four of AccessLocal.Tv's Neighborhood News Correspondents and their Program Manager have just returned from a two-day youth media conference in Los Angeles, hosted by the California Endowment. Ivan Caballero, Kiara Crenshaw, David Alcala, and Fabiana Davila-Viera  traveled with Isaac Gonzalez to convene with other youth media producers from all over the state and to share their experiences and know-how.
Youth Reporters  (From Left) Ivan Caballero, Kiara Crenshaw, David Alcala and Fabiana Davila-Viera
Participants received training and encouragement from a variety of consultants and media organizations with a focus on giving their stories more impact and distribution.

"I've never been to anything like this before in my life," said Caballero, 16. "It is very motivating to know that I'm part of a team and a network of youth media sites that are all working across California to share the stories from their communities and help make a difference."

AccessLocal.Tv is a community news website that  empowers young people in Sacramento to share the stories from their neighborhoods that might  otherwise go unreported. Program Manager Isaac Gonzalez mentors up to six youth reporters at a time and provides them with the training and support they need to become effective storytellers. The California Endowment has provided significant financial support to this program for the past five years.

"Giving a voice to the youth in Sacramento, and providing a forum to these important issues which young people care about has been the most rewarding achievement of my professional career," said Gonzalez. "The skills taught in our program are transformational to our correspondents. They often remark that the program changes the way they view the world and their ability to express their opinions about it."

The Neighborhood News Correspondents will begin to utilize the techniques and strategies learned during the conference over the next few weeks. To follow their progress, visit AccessLocal.Tv on a regular basis.
