"Win, Lose or Draw" Named
Audience Favorite in 16th
Place Called Sacramento

Writer/Director Donna Preston of "Win, Lose or Draw" holding both the "Audience Favorite" award and her "Official Selection" award.
Eight original Sacramento-based short films enjoyed their world premiere  Sunday in the 16th annual "A Place Called Sacramento" film festival presented by Access Sacramento.

"Win, Lose or Draw" by Donna Preston, a story about a woman whose short-signed gambling addiction gets in the way of both true love AND money, was voted "Audience Favorite" as more than 500 people watched at Sacramento's historic Crest Theater.

(From Left) Phil D'Asaro of "Death of Del Paso," Access Sacramento Board chair JoAnna Davis, Katherine DaSilva from "Focused" and Festival Director Gary Martin
The other specialty award is by vote of the eight-winning writers/producers who cast ballot for the Producer's Choice Award.  This year a drama, Focused by  Katherine DaSilva, and a documentary, "Death of Del Paso" by Phil D'Asaro were both awarded.

All of the filmmakers greeted their fans, cast and crew in the lobby before the films showed on the big screen.

Another Great Battle Ahead
on Game of the Week

#8 Cosumnes Oaks at #9 Del Campo

by Will James

Hometown Sports

Two weeks into league play, the perilous Capital Valley Conference is rapidly emerging as another of the area's premiere leagues.

Two of the three front-runners, No. 8 Cosumnes Oaks and No. 9 Del Campo, are both 2-0 in league play and are set to square-off Friday evening when the visiting Wolfpack invades Fair Oaks to scrap with the host Cougars in an intense skirmish that's sure to jostle the CVC race.  Both teams are 4-1 overall.

Del Campo Quarterback Ben Purcell
Friday night's contest boils down to offense vs. defense.  Cougars' quarterback Ben Purcell has passed for 19 touchdowns and more than 1400 yards for an offense averaging fifty points per game.  In staggering contrast, the Wolfpack defense has limited opponents to less than six points per game.

Access Sacramento's live telecast of this Hometown Sports Game of the Week may be seen Friday at 7 p.m. on Comcast Cable channel 17, Consolidated Communications Cable channel 17, AT&T U-Verse channel 14, and on the Internet at AccessSacramento.org.
