What do the filmmakers say about participating in "A Place Called Sacramento" film festival"

Writer/Producer of "61 Candles" Cheryl Wynton said, "Most people don't realize how many film professionals we have here and how many awesome things are being filmed right in our city or nearby...we have the critical mass right now to compete with other 'new' film towns like Atlanta."

Writer/Director of "River of Fear Axel Ahrens said, " It's important to support local filmmaking in the same way it's important to support all forms of local art. In doing so, you are contributing to the growth of local culture and helping shape the identity of your community in a positive way."

Join in this great creative project. Tickets are available HERE for the world premiere of this year's films Oct. 4 at 1pm at the historic Crest Theatre in downtown Sacramento.

Game of the Week Features
Debut Appearance for
Bradshaw Christian Football
vs.
Vista del Lago

by Will James
Hometown Sports

Since Game of the Week premiered in 1996, Access Sacramento has covered just about every local high school in the county, but Friday night we add a new school to the list.

Bradshaw Christian makes its first appearance on Access Sacramento's Hometown Sports Game of the Week Friday evening when the Pride journey to Folsom's Prairie City Stadium to face the host Vista del Lago Eagles.

The live telecast may be seen Friday at 7pm on Comcast Cable or Consolidated Communications channel 17, AT&T U-Verse Channel 14, and on the Internet at AccessSacramento.org.

Competing mostly against teams on the Division 4-6 levels, Coach Drew Rickert's Pride seek to avenge last season's home loss to the Eagles, whose competition is generally against teams playing on the Division 1 and 2 levels.

A year ago the two teams squared off in a wild 56-42 shootout that lit-up points on the scoreboard like a pinball machine.  This year's match-up is likely to electrify fans in the same fashion, largely because two of the principal contributors to last year's scoring fest are back to lead the way for their respective teams.

A complete preview of this game can be found at our news blog AccessLocal.tv.

The full schedule of TV games is HERE.

KUBU's Community Radio Producers Preview New Remote Gear

About a dozen ofAccess Sacramento's community radio producers met in their regular monthly gather last week to talk about the station "The Voice of Sacramento" KUBU 96.5 FM  and to look toward the future.
Each of the 70 current radio producers are being asked to provide a picture and biographical information about their show to support a new information page within the Access Sacramento.org website.

Addition training was announced designed to help on-air announcers prepare for questions should officials from the FCC make a routine inspection.  The training will be offered initially for announcers who do live broadcasts from Studio 2.

KUBU Remote Equipment purchased this month and demonstrated by Radio Coordinator Shane Carpenter.
As a special treat, Radio Coordinator Shane Carpenter and Engineer Tim Parish showed off the new remote equipment that will help radio producers broadcast their shows live from the field.  The equipment should be full installed late next month, and training on its use could begin soon after.

You can listen to KUBU HERE.
