Summer Moviemaking Underway for 16th "A Place Called Sacramento" Film Festival

The first of 10 winning "A Place Called Sacramento" scripts completed principle shooting  at the end of June.  Writer Greg Marker wanted to keep his actors out of Sacramento's summer heat as best he could so
Director Matt Gilliam (left), Scott Slotterback on Audio and Director of Photography Dwight Taylor on location for "A River Runs, Shoe It"
"A River Runs, Shoe It" did most of its shooting along the American River Parkway bike trail over two weekends.  The story asks the question, "Why does a homeless woman steal shoes, lots and lots of shoes, and still wear her ragged toeless old pair?"

Meanwhile, "The Death of Del Paso," continues interviews and footage collection on a documentary of the past and future for the northern Sacramento suburb.

"Win, Lose or Draw" by Donna Preston this week revealed new artwork for its film about two people who inherit more than they bargained for. Photography won't be completed until August on this 10-minute story.

Also currently in production is Tay Ouk's story about two young women whose surprise on
"Night Out" crew working in Del Paso
a "Night Out" was something they could never have expected.  Photography is underway, but is not expected to be finished until late this month.  It's a film that will leave the audience thinking about the how to make decisions and the consequences they bring.

For a complete listing of all the film and their stories, visit Access Sacramento's  "A Place Called Sacramento" webpage.

The 10 winning scripts will complete shooting and editing by early September, and the festival will be Sunday, Oct. 4 at 1pm at the historic "Crest" theater in downtown Sacramento.
