2015-2016 Planned Purchases Help Access Sacramento TV & Radio
Members

Starting in August, Access Sacramento has been granted one-time only money from the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission to purchase new equipment to support members in their efforts to create quality television and radio programming.

On-Line Video Submission
Sportcomputer Access Sacramento intends to implement a video ingest process that will allow television producers and providers to submit their programs electronically instead of physically bringing a DVD or flash drive directly to the station.  This YouTube style upload system will allow programming to be transferred directly to the Access Sacramento playback server no matter what type of digital file was originally created.

KUBU 96.5 FM Remote Audio Broadcasting
Live radio broadcasting from outside the Access Sacramento studios using appropriate audio mixing, headsets, and necessary cell or internet connectivity will be one of the first things purchased once the new budget year is active in August, 2015. The proposed Comrex system includes headsets and wireless microphones for field interviews and other event coverage support.

AccessLocal.TV Moves to the Cloud
Access Sacramento's News blog website has so much content now (articles, pictures, videos, podcasts) that its performance and load-speeds have slowed.  By moving the content and website management to leased cloud space, performance issues should be resolved with unlimited growth potential (depending on funding.)

TV Studio Control Room Monitors
Much of the equipment in the TV control room is still older style analog Standard Definition broadcast technology.  Some of the existing monitors will be replaced with High-Definition compliant monitors that will lead the way toward full HD integration in the years to come.

Cameras & Additional Media Lab Computers
Two additional check-out cameras and their accessories (Tripods, Lights, Microphones) will be purchased in the next fiscal year, and additional computers will be placed in the digital media lab to help with a transition from Apple's Final Cut Pro editing software to Adobe's Creative Cloud using Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects software.

HD Truck & Remote Video Control Room
As previously mentioned in earlier weeks, Access Sacramento is also authorized to replaces its existing 1996 Recreation Vehicle that creates Hometown TV and Game of the Week broadcasts. Delivery of the new High Definition vehicle with its cameras, video switcher, audio mixer, recording systems, and intercom system is expected after February 15, 2016.

All of these new equipment will help ensure Access Sacramento remains on the path toward the digital future while we "Make a Difference, One Voice at a time."
