Singers, Musicians, Dancers to Gather Saturday for Sacramento Has Talent Audition
"We're expecting some of Sacramento's best performers Saturday," said Sacramento Has Talent producer Ed Fletcher. "Last year two singers advanced from the Live TV audition into the main show. We expect similar results this year." Audition sign-ups begin at 8:30 a.m. Sat. Feb. 21 with a first-come first-served approach until all the slots are full. The audition is at the Access Sacramento TV studio in the Coloma Community Center, 4623 T. Street, Sacramento.
After preliminary judging, 10 performers will be called back for the LIVE TV show Open Audition show on Access Sacramento. Watch on Comcast or CCI cable channel 17, AT&T U-Verse Channel 14 or streamed Live from

The final Open Audition judge is Sacramento-based artist and photographer Melissa Uroff, founder of Tube Magazine who promotes support of the arts in Sacramento County.
Public relations and social media expert Patrick Harbison hosts the 1pm Open Audition TV Show.

Building Community Radio The Voice of Sacramento
A dozen volunteer community radio producers who broadcast on Access Sacramento's KUBU 96.5 FM gathered Friday night to organize several work groups to help grow and improve the station.

Meeting with the group in the Access Sacramento TV Studio, Executive Director Gary Martin and Radio Program Director Shane Carpenter thanked the volunteers for donating some extra time to help the station's reach into our Sacramento community.
Four work groups are being formed in the following areas:
Programming - Leader Robin Scott - to focus on copyright & non-commercial rules, plus building an on-call live volunteer list.
Promotions - Leader Ja'nice Wisdom - to work on press/news relations and on-line profiles.
Production - Leader Camron Dias - to create new Public Service Announcements and promos.
Underwriting & Research - Leader JoAnn Fuller - to develop a marketing packet.
Access Sacramento is grateful to all its producer community and volunteers and is delighted the 24-year-old "Voice of Sacramento" cablecast and internet radio station is now heard over-the air in downtown Sacramento. Listen HERE.

Sac French Film Festival

Asian American Journalists
This week on LiveWire, we're bringing in the Sacramento French Film Festival (SFFF) to talk about its Winter Fest, and the Sacramento Asian American Journalists Association with info on their upcoming mixer.

The SFFF, organized by the Sacramento French Cultural Society, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization created in 2010, is the second largest French film festival on the West Coast. The SFFF is a unique cultural event that brings people together around films and French culture in a festive atmosphere.
Held at the Crest Theatre, Sacramento's last art deco movie palace and the only independent and locally owned movie theater in Sacramento, the Festival plays an important part in the cultural life of Downtown Sacramento.

The Sacramento Asian American Journalists Association has about 50 members throughout the Central Valley and Northern California. AAJA is a nonprofit organization of almost 2,000 professional and student members in 20 chapters across the United States and Asia.
They share in the mission of their parent organization, which was founded in 1981 to:
- Encourage Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to enter the ranks of journalism.
- Work for fair and accurate coverage of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
- Increase the number of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander journalists, including news managers, in the industry.

Call for Scripts 16th Place Called Sacramento Film Festival
Access Sacramento seeks 10-minute short film script entries about Sacramento by March 27, 2015 for its 16th annual "Place Called Sacramento" Film Festival.

"A Place Called Sacramento" is unique by selecting 10 Sacramento-themed winning scripts for production during this coming summer, with the resulting 10-minute films appearing on the big screen in a giant world premiere the first weekend in October. Each film must feature story lines and locations about the Sacramento region.
In preparation for the script competition and resulting film production process, Access Sacramento is providing four specialty workshops on Saturdays.
Short Form Script Writing - Four Saturdays beginning February 28.
Short Film Production Tips - Four Saturdays beginning April 11
Acting for the Camera - One day May 30
Make Up Basics - One day June 13
