New Antenna Improves
Overall Reach & Quality
In what should be the last major upgrade for the over-air signal for KUBU 96.5 FM, Access Sacramento last Wednesday replaced the original KUBU antenna with a different design and already it's clear the signal has higher quality throughout the broadcast region.

New KUBU antenna increases reach and clarity for 96.5 FM from downtown.
The new Jampro "Penetrator" antenna is specifically designed to have a better ability to help low-power FM stations like KUBU reach through tall buildings and for the signal to be less affected by competing stations on the same frequency.

A variety of KUBU radio producers all report the signal having greatly improved reception in the 4-to-5 mile range from downtown, with  at least one report showing an acceptable signal south on HWY 99 south of Florin Road to nearly Mack Road.

Push Here to listen to "The Voice of Sacramento" KUBU 96.5 FM on the Internet right now.

Many thanks to Access Sacramento engineer Tim Parish and Radio Coordinator Shane Carpenter for their research and efforts on behalf of the volunteer radio producers on "The Voice of Sacramento" KUBU 96.5 FM.

Sacramento Video Industry Professionals (VIPs)
Joins the Access Sacramento Family

Access Sacramento welcomes to the family the long standing training and video networking group Sacramento VIPs (Video Industry Professionals).
Video Industry Professionals
After more than 10 years operating as a club, the Sac VIPs asked for Access Sacramento's help in pushing their group to the next level.

The Sac VIPs board will continue to operate as it always has with planning guests and coordinating give-aways at their regular meetings on the last Wednesday of every month.

With Access Sacramento's help though, the group can now coordinate donations as a true non-profit organization.

Access Sacramento's website now hosts the Sac VIPs pages, and their e-mail news blasts are now also contatined in the Access Sacramento system.

These internal changes though won't affect the great speakers list--so you're invited to tomorrow's meeting with Rachel Clark.

Join Sac VIP's Wed. 28th at 6:50pm for award winning editor/storyteller Rachel Clark.

Rachel combines a love of story and understanding of good, efficient production practices to create a collaborative, effective process and product.

She is currently the owner and lead storyteller of 54 Films, LLC and is also a producer and editor on the upcoming feature film, "In God We Trust," in partnership with Kejo Productions, Nu Artifact Films, and Bridgeway Films!

Tomorrow's meeting will be held at STUDIO 50 3665 BLECKELY ST, Mather, CA 95655.

Stop by the meeting and say hello to the many working "Video Industry Professionals." From all of us at Access Sacramento, Welcome!

TV Studio Upgrades Planned
New Drapery Arrives

Significant improvements are coming for the Access Sacramento TV Studio.

A new ceiling to floor beige/grey background drape has been installed, replacing one that may have been an original from 1988. The drapery is required to be fire-retardant according to fire code, and provides an excellent surface for bouncing colored lights or images to enhance the background of many Access Sacramento shows.

Additional Improvements Planned
In the next quarter, Studio technology will also be upgraded.  New Tripods and larger viewfinders are planned for the studio cameras, and a teleprompting system will be added to each camera replacing the single-camera prompting equipment in place now.

The TV Studio is used free of charge for Access Sacramento's studio-certified members who create a variety of talk, instruction and entertainment programming.

Studio training classes run six consecutive  Saturdays from 9am to noon.  Access Sacramento membership is required to sign up. The next studio class begins in March.
