 Free Orientation Session Tonight

Access Sacramento's next free orientation session is tonight at 6pm. Another class is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 21.    

 

RSVP for either date by calling 916-456-8600 ext. 0.

 

Access Sacramento's regularly  scheduled  Orientation Sessions are on the 2nd Tuesday and 3rd Wednesday of every month.  

 

Orientation classes are free and open to the public. They last a little more than an hour. The orientation class is also a required step in becoming an Access Sacramento member and should be taken at your earliest convenience.   

 

The Orientation Class gives you a chance to ask questions and to learn about our services and what we provide to the community and our members. We also describe the standard classes, member benefits, and provide a tour of the radio and TV studios and digital media lab.   

 

All classes are on a first come, first serve basis. We hope to see you there!

New Classes Start Next Week

Its not too late to sign up for several new classes being offered by Access Sacramento.
 
 
Aspiring Access Sacramento members looking to produce their own TV show will benefit from a first-of-its-kind class:

Producing Your Own TV Show: Beginning Jan. 20, this class reveals where to begin.
 
During this class, learn what the duties of a Producer are and get tips to help make your idea become a reality.
 
Tricaster Training: Starting Jan. 22, Studio Certified members have opportunity to sign up to take a new Tricaster Training Class.
 
During this class, learn how to create a show in a virtual-realiyy set using a tricaster. Learn how to "key" your talent or graphics into a live background and learn required tricaster specific lighting and audio setups.
 
Starting Mar. 7, Studio Certified members will also have access to a new Advanced Studio class.
 
Members will learn advanced camera techniques and lighting. Other topics include, advanced switching, CG graphics and audio tips.

Class enrollment is first come, first served, so we strongly encourage those interested to sign up as soon as possible.

Storytellers Needed for AccessLocal.TV

Are you a Sacramento County youth between the ages of 16-21? Do you like writing true stories and making videos? Would you like to take your talents to the next level? Then AccessLocal.TV is looking for you.

AccessLocal.TV is hiring as many as six area youth to become Neighborhood News Correspondents through the spring of 2015. This is a paid position with weekly assignments and responsibilities. 

AcessLocal.TV is a project by Access Sacramento in partnership with the California Endowment that provides Sacramento County youth an opportunity to express their voice by writing about topics or issues within their neighborhoods.

Tomorrow at 5pm

Tomorrow we celebrate two non profits for nationally recognized causes in January. The Society for the Blind will talk about Braille literacy and the Kawasaki Disease Foundation will share the importance of blood transfusions. Both 501(c)3 non-profits are from Sacramento.

 

In their 60th year of service to the Sacramento region and Northern California, the Society of the Blind's mission remains to empower individuals who are blind or with low vision to live productively and independently by building confidence through training, tools and mentorship.  For more info visit:

State Capitol Candlelight Vigil Against the Peshawar Attacks
Airs This Weekend on Access Sacramento

Members of the Muslim and Interfaith gathered at the state Capitol to condemn the attack on the Peshawar School in Pakistan in a rally videotaped for Access Sacramento.
 
During the attack on Dec. 16, 2014, 145 people were killed, including 132 schoolchildren ranging between the ages of eight and 18 years old. At the California State Capitol, a candlelight vigil for the victims was held.

"Indian Classical Part 2"

"Listen Up! Sacramento" is pleased to present Indian Classical Music, part 2 featuring Pandit Binay Pathak and the Sohini Sangeet Music Academy. Pandit Binay Patak is a world-renowned Harmonium player and is accompanied by the Tabla and Sarod, while he sings Hindustani Classical Ragas in the 2nd part of this 2-part episode of "Listen Up!"

 

Not only do you get the opportunity to hear and see beautiful Classical Indian Music, but Pandit Binay Pathak and his students from the Sohini Sangeet Academy also teach you about the history of the music and the instruments they are playing. In this episode there is even a special "Surprise" instrument unveiled and we are treated to some music played on it!
