Film Productions Build Momentum

"The Shadow Over Sacramento" Shooting River Scenes

With a little more than eight weeks before the 10 films must be completed for this year's Access Sacramento A Place Called Sacramento Film Festival, production or casting and planning are moving along.

The "Shadow Over Sacramento" has its cast and shooting has begun.

Writer Daniel Paschal's production team has a great Facebook website and Indiegogo.com campaign if you are able to make a donation to help out with production costs.

Nine other writers-turned-producers are traveling this same path of moving from the planning stages into summer time full production.

Danna Wilberg's actors for "The Story" have the complicated task of taking a film set around the chilly Christmas holiday--and shooting during the middle of summer.

Lonon Smith's "The Labrynth" has also completed casting and has done its first read-through of the script.
"The Labrynth" cast and crew
Most producers are still seeking help with some cast or extras and crew.  Festival Co-Organizer Michelle Barbaria can be contacted if you're looking to volunteer and join one of the productions during the shooting phase over this summer.

Email MBarbaria@AccessSacramento.org for more information.

Mark your Calendar: The 15th Place Called Sacramento's 10 films make their World Premiere  Sunday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. at Sacramento's Crest Theatre. Tickets will be available soon.

We are also excited to welcome guests from California Stage who will be sharing all the details about their upcoming play "Marat/Sade".
Simone washing Marat played by Mark Gonzalez in the play "Marat/Sade".

From the www.CalStage.org:

"California Stage will open its highly anticipated production of Marat/Sade by Peter Weiss July 19th, 2014.  Veteran Los Angeles director Kent Johnson dives into Weiss' avant garde masterwork to create the most outrageous musical spectacle of the Season. Weiss reveals what happens when the "1%" goes too far and takes too much in his grandiose and grotesque play-within-a-play.  In 1808, the infamous Marquis de Sade directs the inmates of the Charenton lunatic asylum in his own luridly critical take on the assassination of Jean-Paul Marat by Charlotte Corday and the French Revolution as a whole.  De Sade's fellow patients, led by the Herald, voice their own discontent with the Marat's glorious Revolution through song, dance and pantomime set to live music."

The play begins on July 19th and is happening at California Stage located in the R25 complex in midtown Sacramento.

For details please visit www.CalStage.org.
