Next Orientation Session is Tonight at 6pm
Access Sacramento's next Orientation Session is tonight, and another is scheduled for next week on Wednesday May 21 at 6pm.
Orientation classes are free and open to the public. They last a little over an hour. This orientation class is also a mandatory step in becoming an Access Sacramento member and should be taken at your earliest convenience.
The Orientation Class will give you a chance to ask questions and learn about our services and what we provide to the community and its members. We also will go over the standard classes we offer and member benefits as well as getting a tour of the facility.
Orientations are regularly scheduled on the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Wednesday of every month. (One week early this month because of a special event.)
All classes are on a first come, first serve basis so signing up right away is crucial. Mark your calendars for the final listings of the Orientation class!
We hope to see you there!

Farewell Send Off
Dev Singh Retires
After 28 Years
at Access Sacramento
 | Dev Singh plans to travel and relax in his retirement, calling his 28 years at Access Sacramento "The best in my life." |
After starting as a part-time on-call production assistant, Dev Singh advanced to being an award winning producer, director and engineer at Access Sacramento. As director of Training and Operations, Singh helped lead the way from analog recording on 3/4" video tape (which doesn't even exist anymore) into an era of digital High-Definition video for cable and Internet distribution. |
Front row (from left): Stan Bollinger, Dev Singh, Bhim Kumar-Reyes; Back Row: Thorunn Gudjonsdottir, Michelle Barbaria, Roniecia Harris, TD Trice
|
Long time Access Sacramento volunteer member Stan Bollinger recalled with Singh the earliest days when together they created the first Pig Bowl broadcast on Access Sacramento. Signh told how the show must go on during the early days of Access Sacramento when many shows were LIVE. "One of the volunteers came to help in the studio, but hadn't eaten anything at all that day," said Singh. "Suddenly, she passed out right there behind the camera. An ambulance crew took her out--but the show never did stop." Access Sacramento will be forever indebted to Dev Singh for his leadership, guidance and years of dedicated service. The staff and members of Access Sacramento wish him the very best in the years to come.

Letters of Support Needed!
Assembly Joint Rresolution 39, authored and introduced by Assembly member Roger Hernandez asks that Congress eliminate outdated language that harms the way Public, Education and Government access cable stations are funded.
AJR 39 gained approval in the California Assembly several weeks ago, but now needs your help to pass in the California Senate. If AJR 39 passes the Senate, it will move directly toward Washington. The timing of this couldn't be better given all the activities in DC surrounding the Comcast-TW merger and the possibility that one of the conditions of approval of the merger could be related to this issue. Your letters in support of AJR 39 are needed now more than ever. Draft your letter of support to your Senator today and urge he/she support AJR 39. Now is the time to act. Thank you for your support.
