Next Orientation Session is Next Tuesday at 6pm
Access Sacramento's next Orientation Sessions are Tuesday May 13, and Wednesday May 21 at 6pm.
Orientation classes are free and open to the public. They last a little over an hour. This orientation class is also a mandatory step in becoming an Access Sacramento member and should be taken at your earliest convenience.
The Orientation Class will give you a chance to ask questions and learn about our services and what we provide to the community and its members. We also will go over the standard classes we offer and member benefits as well as getting a tour of the facility.
Orientations are regularly scheduled on the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Wednesday of every month. (One week early this month because of a special event.)
All classes are on a first come, first serve basis so signing up right away is crucial. Mark your calendars for the final listings of the Orientation class!
We hope to see you there!

Access Sacramento's Liz Harrison will train NPRC volunteers in how to use the new Green Studio cameras and equipment.
|
Access Sacramento last week installed three cameras, a video switcher and audio gear into a new studio space designed for Sacramento County nonprofit organizations to use in creating informational messages to air on cable TV and the Internet.
The partnership with the Non Profit Resource Center (NPRC) will make it easier for users to video tape panel discussions, training sessions and informational messages about services using Access Sacramento equipment.

Letters of Support Needed!
Assembly Joint Rresolution 39, authored and introduced by Assembly member Roger Hernandez asks that Congress eliminate outdated language that harms the way Public, Education and Government access cable stations are funded.
AJR 39 gained approval in the California Assembly several weeks ago, but now needs your help to pass in the California Senate. If AJR 39 passes the Senate, it will move directly toward Washington. The timing of this couldn't be better given all the activities in DC surrounding the Comcast-TW merger and the possibility that one of the conditions of approval of the merger could be related to this issue. Your letters in support of AJR 39 are needed now more than ever. Draft your letter of support to your Senator today and urge he/she support AJR 39. Now is the time to act. Thank you for your support.

This Week on LiveWire!
The Madwoman of Chaillot & Dateless
Ovation Stage returns to LiveWire! with their newest performance "The Madwoman of Chaillot" written by Jean Girudoux and translated to the English version by Maurice Valency. The play is directed by Penny Kline. The Ovation Stage describes the play as "A Beautifully comedic play of stark contrasts in human character, The Madwoman of Chaillot divides the world sharply between the artists and the men of business." The Actors will be on LiveWire! this week and will give us sneak peek of the play by sharing a short scene with us. The play is happening at California Stage located at the R25 Complex in Midtown Sacramento and runs May 10th through June 1st.
For more information about "The Madwoman of Chaillot" please visit www.OvationsStage.com.
We are also excited to have guests from the new video series "Dateless" based loosely on the life experience of Laura Bendixon, the creator of the program. The series follows a successful matchmaker as she tries to find love in her own life. This comedic view of the dating scene is original and fun and you can meet some of the cast and crew on LiveWire! Join us on Wednesday when we'll get a very special look inside the show.
