Orientations are regularly scheduled on the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Wednesday of every month.

All classes are on a first come, first serve basis so signing up right away is crucial. Mark your calendars for the final listings of the Orientation class!

Dev Singh Veteran Access Staffer to Retire in May

Production and Training Director Dev Singh this week announced his plan to retire next month after nearly 28 years with Access Sacramento.

Singh first worked as a part time production assistant, and worked up to being in full charge of Access Sacramento operations.  As an award winning producer and director, Singh will be missed by both the paid staff and volunteer community of member-producers.

Singh has been in charge of scheduling for Hometown TV and Game of the Week, and has been the only TV producer for the Pig Bowl's Guns & Hoses Charity football game since its arrival at Access Sacramento in the 1990s.  The last two years, the game has been broadcast live and last year won a Western Access Video Excellence Award as the best live broadcast from public access facilities in six western states.

Keeping up with the changing times has never been a problem for Dev, who has made the three decade transition from analog to digital, from standard definition to high definition and last year, the "Place Called Sacramento" Film Festival was produced and delivered on Blu-Ray for the first time under his guidance.

Singh says he's looking forward to having more time with this family and for an opportunity to visit his native Fiji more frequently.

The Access Sacramento family thanks him for his leadership and service, and wishes him the very best in the years to come.

Letters of Support Needed!

On April 3rd, 2014 Assembly Joint Rresolution 39, authored and introduced by Assembly member Roger Hernandez, passed the Assembly with 91-1 vote.

The resolution asks that Congress eliminate outdated language in Section 542 of Title 47 (This is the language which limits how local governments can use the PEG (Public, Education and Government) funding that they receive that is in addition to franchise fee).

Thanks to all of you who sent letters in support to Assembly Member Roger Hernandez and AJR 39.

Now that AJR 39 has passed the Assembly, we need your help again as the Resolution moves to the Senate for action. However, it is going directly to the Senate floor and not to Committee first.

If AJR 39 passes the Senate, it will move directly towards Washington. The timing of this couldn't be better given all the activities in DC surrounding the Comcast-TW merger and the possibility that one of the conditions of approval of the merger could be related to this issue.

Your letters in support of AJR 39 are needed now more than ever as the Resolution tries to pass through the Senate.

Draft your letter of support to your Senator today and urge he/she to support AJR 39. Due to the success in getting AJR 39 through the Assembly, your letters and direct contact would help in trying to get AJR through the Senate.

BIG Day of Giving a Week from today on Access Sacramento

Access Sacramento has BIG plans for the BIG Day of Giving on Tuesday, May 6th.

In partnership with the
Sacramento Region Community Foundation, GiveLocalNow, Placer Community Foundation, Yolo Community Foundation, you will have a chance to show your support for non-profit groups like Access Sacramento by using a special website to donate along with thousands of others around our area.
